The best book on healthy aging I have read

Individual owners manual on how to navigate through life.
This is well written book by a pair of authors who point out anecdots of people who have enjoyed satisfying lives. They pair this with lifestyle behavior and attitude to illustrate how to live a fullfilling life. The shame is the people who should read it, those in their early 20's wont read it because they will feel this doesn't apply to them. And those who will read it are at an age where there is little time left to make course corrections.

Most important book for aging baby boomers!
If you have not started planning your retirement from all angles and you are over 50 this book is essential for you!!!! Written by a Chief of geriatrics at one of the largest academic centers in US it is both practical and very easy to read/listen to!

Wayyyyyy overdone in promoting a well lived life...
It's a bit of a blah-blah book for those of us over 65. "Over-chaptered"& over-done in assessing life's aging process. The introduction alone rather stopped me cold: "a life of quiet retirement" is NOT presumably an uninteresting or unfulfilling one (-ESPECIALLY since the one writing can't assume what has led another to this choice) rather, it can be a peaceful one on many levels for many reasons. Houle makes it sound like a "sin" not to be utterly involved with people, endeavors, etc. (really?!) -If one is to "respect each other's traditions" than one needs to RESPECT people in general & their life choices in the aging process. Very disappointed in this book and I will so stick to Buddha's philosophies of reason and empathy...This is an overkill litany for any aging person seeking basic knowledge.
