The Fantastic Body: What Makes You Tick & How You Get Sick [Bennett, Howard] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Fantastic Body: What Makes You Tick & How You Get Sick Review: Informative and Well Thought Out - Bought this for my 3 year old when he started asking about body parts, and this book is all I was hoping it would be. It goes fairly in depth with the various parts of the body and adds plenty of additional facts and trivia on the sides of the main text. I also appreciate that it has an index for quick look-ups and that it keeps most of the gross out facts off to the side of the main text. I also like that it describes some common issues that can happen with each body part. The book itself is great quality with thicker pages, big pictures, and a good hard cover. Tricky medical terms have their pronunciations next to them, which has been a huge help. My son is now 4 and still loves looking things up in this book. It's a little above his reading level still, but I read it with him and he enjoys that. Be aware: There's a section on puberty and reproduction in this book. If you want to hold off and talk about that with your child at a later time, hold off on this. It stays pretty medical with those topics though and, in my opinion, the topics are tastefully covered. Review: Very great explanation - Favorite book ever for my 8 years old and still reading it. Very great explanation and understandable for the age. Curiosity for the kids, it s adorable, well done

Wonderful book on human biology for kids!
The Fantastic Body is an entertaining, approachable, and surprisingly information-packed book that any kid (or fun adult) with an interest in science or medicine will love. Dr. Bennett manages to cover an impressively broad range of topics in this book, weaving in science, history, and medicine, all while maintaining a playful tone. Page after page is filled with clever illustrations and fun factoids, so I genuinely think there is something in here for people of any age! In short, I can't recommend it highly enough and I'll be sharing it with many of my friends and family members who have kids.

My kid learnt a lot!
The Fantastic Body turned out to be my kid's favorite book. She learned a lot from it. It is written in such a way that my daughter reads it over and over again. Also, she makes it like a fun family game asking questions FACT or FIB. I am going to look for more such books by this author if there are any. Best book for 6-10 year olds!!

I should have looked through the whole book before letting him look at it to decide how to explain it the way my husband and I would like to first
My son loves this book. We purchased the kindle version. My son just turned 5 years old and loves looking at the pictures and we will read it together. HOWEVER, there is a somewhat detailed description of the reproductive systems for both genders that I was not prepared to explain yet to my 5 year old at this time. I should have looked through the whole book before letting him look at it to decide how to explain it the way my husband and I would like to first. Our fault though sill a fun and educational book for school aged children.

Simply Wonderful! Very Informative!
I absolutely love this book! I bought it for my 10 year old who loves biology and science, and loves to learn how things work. We read through the chapters together, and there is a ton of fantastic information and fun little facts about the entire human body in this book! Even I learned information and fun facts that I did not know! The illustrations beautifully complement the text as well! I absolutely, 100% recommend this book for anyone, child or adult, who wants to learn more about the human body and itโs functions!

More than a book about anatomy
As other reviewers have noted, The Fantastic Body is filled with lots of fun and accessible information about how the human body works. It also includes information about things people would like to know and it does so in easy to digest bites. For example, which scientist invented vaccinations? What causes lactose intolerance? Why do you shiver and feel cold when you have a fever? The book also includes a section called Dr. Bโs Tips, which gives brief discussions about common problems kids may want to know about such as strep throat, ear infections, concussions and others. All in all, this is a fabulous resource for the whole family. I definitely will use it in my child and adolescent psychology practice and with my grandchildren.

Fantastic human body resource! This is a wonderful book filled with gorgeous illustrations, charts, diagrams, and tons of fabulous information about the human body. We love the scientific information and how it builds in information about human evolution throughout time as well! We have been using this as a part of a study on the human body and we are all learning so much! Wonderful resources for K-5.
