Liberation: A Spiritual Autobiography

Thorough, Nondogmatic, Loving, and Wise Guide to Liberation
An invaluable guide to the various stages of liberation from dualistic illusions (regardless of what order you encounter these stages), and a detective manual to help point out and dissolve sneaky conceptual filters that condition direct experience and can otherwise escape detection. Av Neryah powerfully points out the gross and subtle layers of illusion shed through various investigations, nondual practices, and inquiry; also how to investigate, and what may result, but without dogmatic or cultural baggage from any tradition. Having practiced nondually for a long time and currently dissolving subtle remnants of dualistic perception and conception, I can vouch for the accuracy, sincerity, simplicity, wisdom, and loving-Suchness in this wonderful book. If I'd had this one decades ago, I'd have saved a lot of time and trouble! This book goes farther than most such guides in its unraveling of even the finest dualistic distinctions that often escape notice (such as fine subject-object and Unmanifest-manifest designations even in "transcendent" states and after returning) and the subtlest dualistic false concepts that can remain, no matter how well-disguised or "elevated," or how often steeped in absorptions in the Absolute. This feature alone can prevent dead-ends or premature assumptions of completion when more remains to be seen through. With his detailed descriptions of inner direct experiential inquiry and outcomes in daily life as well as a helpful "tree of liberation" map, Av Neryah clearly knows what he's talking about and explains very directly. Helpful to those at all stages of dismantling the delusions this human life normally comes with, this book is a priceless gem of being-awareness-bliss. Through this transient expression of Suchness, I offer pressed hands of gratitude for this book's appearance!

A courageous and determined spiritual explorer!
Av Neryah’s book Liberation: A Spiritual Autobiography is more than a book; it is a living document. To quote the source:“A book whose authentic power goes beyond its words is ever alive and fresh, regardless of how many times one reads it or the era when it’s read—it is timeless, and always reveals something new with each reading.”I experienced this firsthand.I was excited to meet the book, via a delightful synchronicity. My reactions and response to reading its first part mirrored the state of my life at the time—I was in pre-vacation ‘rush’ mode when I started it, in a more ego-dominant space with some semi-covert resistance to its high level offerings. My reactions were in turn more ego-based; a little judgmental about matters of form (word choice or what not), a little impatient to know whether the whole book was his autobiography or if it switched gears at some point to practical constructs and offerings (it was the latter), and a little lost when I had to rely on intellectual constructs to understand the phases of his evolution once they exceeded my own.As I slipped into the ‘relax’ mode of vacation, I aligned more with the vibration of the book. Once he had introduced his Tree of Liberation and guided us through the different stages of spiritual development, I had a clearer sense of where I had been, was at the moment, and where I had yet to go.I finished it and was unequivocally moved to begin rereading it. I was transfixed from beginning to end with the second reading. Even the parts that were far beyond my level were fascinating. Did my vibration increase through the first reading (with the support of vacation)? The author indicated that it might. The form of the book is quite good, but its content is what really delivers. The author provides his own experience of Liberation as a tenacious explorer, a product of Western society. He speaks succinctly, with great wisdom for one as young as he. As was expressed by other reviewers, I too look forward to seeing where Life takes him over the years, and would love to hear an update on his life and experiences every 10 years or so!I met with Av Neryah for the first time yesterday. His presence is delightful, gentle, wise and kind. His lack of ego is apparent. I look forward to continue learning from him moving forward, and feel very fortunate to have this opportunity while it is available.

Inspired and Inspiring
This book falls into two parts: Part 1 is autobiographical, it describes the steps of spiritual development the author has taken. This part is very interesting, inspiring and motivating.Part 2 tries to describe the different stages of spiritual development in words. This part is very rich, full of wisdom and hints. It was nevertheless for me sometimes difficult to understand, and I will read it over and over again. The depth of insight of this book is remarkable, as well as the author’s ability to very precisely articulate finest aspects.- A very beneficial book that will give you valuable inspirations for your personal spiritual growth and liberation.

This book will hang around
I previously read Yogic Dharma by the author, and passed in on. So my expectation was in similiar vein for this book. But no; we are all unique and I have relished reading all the reviews here. The first part of the book is very much about the author`s journey and I found it an exciting read. As we move on the author is doing an exquisite job of documenting his personal experience of experiences in meditation and I find that I can only go so far.....at the moment. So this is a book that will hang around and be picked up when `my`consiousness can take a bit more. I feel that Av has by his very nature embedded keys of light and wisdom within the very words of the book, he is clearly `a rare bird` and this wisdom is tailor made for this time and place. Such is the energy that you will probably buy this book regardless, if it is meant for you. The beautifully crafted summary on the back cover says it all really and I quote " within the lines of this autobiogaphy lies not only a fascinating narrative, but also a frofound exposition of the highest teachings of spirituality and nonduality with an unprecedented degree of precision, detail, and practicability - a complete roadmap to liberation. It is clear that when one has experienced the `ultimate` the driver is the liberation from suffering of others` Enough said.

All the way up and beyond
My review is based on more than 10 years of intense Yoga practice (Asana, Bandha, Pranayama, Shatkarma, Kriya) while reading tons of Yoga and Advaita related books.Since 2017 I have read all the books written by Av Neryah as SantataGamana and Avahtara. I often let them accompany my daily life by rereading specific passages or gradually the entire books again. Equally fundamental, I have integrated the purifying techniques and nondual instructions he recommended into my daily sadhana. A hidden gem is his book "The Yoga of Consciousness", which is also very good in preparation for Av‘s new book.Generally speaking, all of the author‘s books are among the best you can read on the subject. His teaching is free of any dogmas and full of precious pointers to the truth. Av‘s words are emphatic, accurate and deeply impressive. Even more, if you read his words with all your being, awareness and heart, you will feel the grace they emenate. It is mainly through his books and presence that I have been able to align my spiritual path to reach the level I am at now. Depending on your preconditions, the effects may vary, but regardless of where you are standing, they will immensely accelerate your progress on the path to realization. That being said, the new book "Liberation" is outstanding above all. In the course of the book the author gives a comprehensive and detailed description of his spiritual path. His telling is warm, authentic and fascinating. As the autobiography progresses, it becomes more and more breathtaking, how precisely he unfolds the most profound wisdom and truth. After reading the book, I had an online conversation with Av for 90 minutes. From the perspective of duality, the talk was absolutely inspiring. From the perspective beyond, it is nonduality resonating here and now.
