I compared the readings with our traditional digital thermometer, and the results were consistently spot-on. After my 2yo godson had a seizure from a spiked fever, I had to get a quick read thermometer and this one is just what I need! Now we do temp checks through the door to be on the safe side. This was a great value and its literally click then point. Works quickly so he can run off to play since babies don't even know when they're sick! Lol

So I researched a lot before buying this, and I'm glad because this one is working okay. In the end, I used the calibration capability to set it such that when used on a normal (not feverish) forehead, it shows 98.6⁰ +\- 0.3⁰. These devices are measuring surface temperature so it depends on the ambient air temperature and whether you have warmed it up by holding it, and whether you are sweating. It takes about 1 second to read, and you have to hold the button down until it beeps. I saw some videos of people just pressing the button and not waiting a second or two for the beep. After a lot of trials, I seemed to consistently get a reading around 97.5⁰ so I changed the calibration up one degree. Now I'm pretty satisfied, although I'd prefer something a little more consistent. But the oral thermometers are not much better, and this is faster. Also, maybe it's just me, but it seems like a lot of the bad reviews came from people who seem to think Americans use rectal thermometers a lot more than we actually do, so I'll just leave that out there for you to wonder about.

In the beginning i thought it was great but i started to notice it has a mind of its own. Every scan it just changes and when i scan the same place twice to double check it changes again. Its definitely not worth getting since its changing its mind all the time
