No Description Available No Track Information Available Media Type: CD Artist: HUMBLE PIE Title: SMOKIN' Street Release Date: 07/07/1987 Domestic Genre: ROCK/POP Review: Classic seventies album - What a way to remember that not all great music happened in the sixties ! Steve Marriots vocals, as always, stand out, but the credits are a second to none list of musicians and other vocalists. I would strongly recommend this album to anyone thinking of buying. Review: Turning Point - I replaced my vinyl copy of this album with the CD version simply because over nigh on 40 years of playing, the vinyl was worn out. And in CD version, it's still as powerful to these ears today as it was when I first listened to it. Released after the "Performance" album and after the departure of Pete Frampton, this is the turning point where Steve began to show his interest in black soul music, fused with his penchant for writing rock ditties and this gave birth to 30 Days In The Hole replete with the backing singing of the Blackberries which is absolutely sublime - a classic track that is truly timeless - and a pointer to where the Mighty Midget was headed! Of course, part of the objective here was also to introduce the fanbase to a new guitarist in the form of Clem Clemson and he shines throughout the straight blues outing of I Wonder, although he does otherwise pretty much disappear into what is more of a band sound with Hot 'N Nasty, The Fixer and Sweet Peace And Time - certainly, he was not a bad guitarist, but substantially muted compared to Mr Frampton! All in all this was the last really rocking album that The Pie produced and remains a towering testament to the band at the height of it's powers

Smokin Gem
Really only began to appreciate the vocal range and versatility of Steve Marriott quite recently. This album entirely vindicates my view through a dynamic rock/soul/blues set list that must be heard at maximum volume. I was totally blown away by the near 9 minute track "I Wonder". That said, Humble Pie in this format deliver on every track. Many years ago the late Tommy Vance used to host the Friday Rock Show and its yearly poll of viewers top 10 Classic Rock tracks. Looking back, how Humble Pie didnt feature is a mystery (please correct me if i'm wrong). Check this album out, you will not be disappointed.

"come on everybody"--pies the limit
This album was recorded at Olympic studios london in early 1972,and the band sounded as if they enjoyed it,with digital enhancement the sound is exellent and fresh, its got 9 tracks on it,a few covers thrown in .Steve marriot always had such a distictive voice, and the album feels like a live sound,"come on everybody" one of the covers, well they took this to the cleaners and made this version thier own, stevie,s voice got a bit lost in the mix on the first couple of tracks, but ok afterwards, theres some good blues stuff here too besides the pie rockier numbers,"I wonder" is over 8 mins long and builds up nicely, they were a talented bunch of guys all right and listening to this album gives you an idea what a live show would have been like.A must for your collection.

Sensational
Humble Pie - overlooked at the time, neglected still now. Simply wonderful rock, blues, soul.

A must have
Although I give it 5 slightly edged out by Eat it as a personal favourite. One of the few bands that come out the speakers with the sweat of their live act

Hot n Nasty
Part of the sound-track to my youth. Humble Pie were a stupendous live band. If you like raunchy rhythym & blues, this one hits the spot. Then try Live at the Fillmore East if you can find it.

British Rock

Das Stück "C'mon everbody" kommt wuchtig daher, "30 days in a hole" fehlte in keinem Live-Konzert und "I wonder" macht mir Gänsehaut.
