Let's face it. No wide-brimmed hat is going to look awesome, but this is the least awful wide-brimmed hat I found. My wife and I each have one. She says they are practical; they are not pretty. I tried 4 others before this one. When buying hats online make sure you get FREE RETURNS. I lost 5 bucks returning an 12 dollar hat. Nice hat. Bought the olive green color and looks exactly as the picture shown. Mostly use it when fishing and/or kayaking.In terms of functionality of the hat:- the top portion of the hat is soft so it allows it to form and sit nicely on the head- the cap is firmer and large enough for shading from the sunlight- it has an adjustable strap around the top portion that can be tightened/loosened to fit any head (my husband and I use this hat interchangeably so it's a great plus that we can both wear it comfortably and fit it to how we want)- it has a clip to clip onto shirts/clothes to prevent it from flying away.- has a back flap to cover and protect the neckProblems I found wearing the hat:- the flap on the back does help protect the neck area, however on very windy days, it always flips over and doesn't stay in place. I've tried using the clip as a barrier to prevent it from moving, but it doesn't really help. The flap is also a bit too short to be placed underneath your shirt or jacket. So in this sense, it doesn't really help with protecting.Overall it's a good hat. Does keep a good amount of shading on hot days and it stays in place for the most part.

I have had this had now for four years. I have worn it for every hike, likely totaling more than 200 miles and hundreds of hours at this point. The majority of which has been in the Socal sun where protection is paramount. It has seen torrential rain, snow, blistering heat, and nothing but abuse. I'm writing a review because I have finally lost the hat, misplacing it somewhere. I might find it someday but I can't fathom going on a hike without this hat so I'm immediately ordering another. The old one is a bit dirty but was not torn nor discolored.

Can't beat these types of hat for comfort of fit and protection from heat exhaustion! With my thinning hair, I needed something else to keep the sun from cooking my last remaining brain cells and boy did this do the job! Seriously though, I used to get migraines and symptoms of heat exhaustion by working outside all day. With this hat, I barely feel like I'm in the sun at all!Definitely recommended to anyone spending long periods of time in direct sunlight. The actual look while wearing it isn't as bad as you might think, it looks better than a farmer's hat and covers more than a full brim type.

I got this for a canoeing trip in the heat of summer, I wanted to avoid slathering on sunscreen over ever inch of exposed skin. This kept the sun off, was lightweight and cool, really awesome to use. When I got to hot I just dipped it into the river for some quick evaporative cooling. It is adjustable so I could wear it as a grown man and a second one even fit my 7-year old daughter. If you expect long sun exposure this will beat hands down any other hat!!

When it arrived, about an inch of stitching on the drape was hanging loose. So much for QC. It wasn't worth sending back so I sewed it up myself. Also the one size fits all is a little tight on my big head. But other than that, it is stylish and blocks the sun well. It has also survived one machine wash on the gentle cycle. For the price, I'm satisfied.

Overall good value. Fit is fully adjustable with a drawstring. Hat seems to provide good shade to my neck. I've taken a few walks around our neighborhood and it's worked well... Hasn't blown off yet either! Looking closely, there were some seams where the sewing was uneven or seemed to have a few threads hanging loose, so I'm wondering how this will hold up, but I think the value was excellent for the price.

i tried on before i washed it. it was a little tight, thought it would be okay. after my 1st wash, it was shrunk at least 1 inch. now from the adult size hat, turned to be kid's size. it could not fit anymore. we don't have a little kid here. i left it on top of my couch next to my dining table and look at it everyday. i wasted my money.
