The Cricket in Times Square: Revised and Updated Edition

As a teacher of primary school children I have read many books to different groups and this is about the best I have come across. It was published many years ago but I liked it so much I bought this for my grandchildren. It is a super story about a country cricket which arrives, by mistake, in Times Square subway station. The portrayal of characters in superb and gives plenty of scope for reading in a New York accent. Well worth getting if you are looking for a book to read aloud.

My sister and I really enjoyed this book (10, 7) we chose 5 stars because this story has such cute animals and they brought peace and happiness to humans, can't wait to read book 2.

I loved this book when I was 6 and I've loved introducing it to my own 6 year old all these years later. It's so beautifully written and takes you on an amazing little adventure

One of the best books for children I have come across. Characters are well drawn and amusing. This is a super book to read aloud to children if you can do a New York accent.

Just as good as I remember it from a kid although a few un PC bits in that would definitely be edited out today -- still the themes of friendship, loyalty and caring about others rings true

I was so delighted to receive this book in excellent condition. AS a I child, I adored this trilogy; so pleased to be able to share it with our children.

This is a charming book, atmospheric and evocative. certainly a book every thoughtful child should read.
