Good Grumpy Sunshine Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5|🌶️🌶️.75This is now one of my favorite Grumpy/Sunshine books. It was definitely well written but also left us a couple crumbs for the next story and the series as a whole. I really enjoyed the characters and was so happy to get an Alex cameo… he’s my favorite of all time lol.The spice between the mains characters starts off a little slow but once it finally starts it picks up and is placed well in the book.I can’t wait to read Vuk and Ayana’s story next! We are going to have a black female lead character! 😬👏🏾🙌🏾💖

King of Sloth was an entertaining and steamy read. While, this can be read as a standalone it is the fourth book in the Kings of Sin series. So, I would recommend just reading the prior books first for a better reading experience. It’s dual POVs of the main characters.Heroine: Sloane, a high-powered publicistHero: Xavier, a billionaire heirTropes: reverse grumpy-sunshine, forced proximity, hate to lovers, and a billionaire romanceOverall, the premise was enjoyable. This book definitely had more plot development and centered more on Xavier’s business instead of the romance, which I didn’t mind. But I was a bit bored at times as it was quite slow-paced to be honest. There was still some amusing, steamy, heartfelt and sweet moments though. I absolutely loved all the cameos of previous characters as well.Sloane’s story and character growth was amazing. I loved how fierce, confident, and independent she was. Xavier’s devotion and commitment towards her was probably one of my favorite aspects. I just loved how hard he fell for her and didn’t give up even when she pushed back. The romance was sweet. It was definitely not as spicy as I was expecting though. They did have amazing chemistry, tension and banter though. The last few chapters were quite rushed and I wished certain storylines were a bit more fleshed out but the ending and epilogue were really sweet.Overall, still an enjoyable read with great characters.

Not my favorite
This one was clearly not quite ready to come out of the oven - beyond the many formatting issues, there were some pretty big continuity errors. Our couple went without protection for every scene except the big, heartfelt one at the end, and there was zero explanation why they went backwards - pretty sure that was just an editing error. Beyond that, I think this could’ve been a much stronger book with a few tweaks here and there (and a shorter page count). I liked it to an extent, but the relationship was often overshadowed by the extreme amount of business talk and family drama. I wanted more swoony moments and scenes that softened the edges of these characters, because they just weren’t easy to relate to without that. Our heroine is known as an ice queen and the hero is known for being hedonistic and lazy, so they needed that swoon factor. I will say that I liked the hero a lot more than I expected to at the beginning; he truly was gone for his girl, and I loved that he didn’t want to change her. I saw a lot of potential in their opposites attract dynamic, so I’m left feeling disappointed by the end result. The story follows Sloane, a woman who runs a PR firm. She’s known for being cold and aloof, which is part of what makes her business so successful. There is one client who drives her a little crazy, and that’s party boy Xavier. He doesn’t seem to have any ambition in life other than having a good time, but the death of his father changes that. With some complicated stipulations in Xavier’s father’s will, it’s the push he needs to finally get moving. Seeing a different side of Xavier draws Sloane in closer, and it’s not long before the chemistry builds between them. But neither one has ever considered having a lasting love before, and they might just be out of their element.I’m what you’d call a casual Ana Huang reader - I like her writing, but I wait to see what the tropes are before deciding to dive in. In this case, I was very intrigued by the blurb, and had such a good feeling about the story. I did not realize that Xavier and Sloane had been working together for years, which was pretty disappointing, honestly. I did understand Huang’s explanation that they had the kind of attraction that was easy to put on the backburner, but that certainly didn’t help the swoon factor, lol. They were good for each other though, and I would’ve loved more of the story to focus on the two of them rather than all of the side characters and distractions. It’s the kind of story that was JUST good enough to hold my interest, and could’ve really won me over if something great happened. Unfortunately, that simply wasn’t the case, and I found myself bored enough to notice all of the editing flaws.Audio note: Zero complaints about the audiobook, I loved the duet narration. Gregory Salinas and Elena Wolfe are both newer-to-me narrators, and they gave great performances. The duet style made it feel more immersive too. The runtime (13 hours) reflects the long length of the book, and it took me a few days to get through. Once I lost interest in the story, I switched to the kindle edition to speed things up, and that’s where all of the weird editing issues became obvious (paragraphs running together, weird line breaks, no distinguishing marks between perspective shifts, etc). They’re much easier to ignore in the audio format, so that’s another plus for the audiobook. There’s a decent amount of spice, so not sure I’d recommend this as a workday listen, but it’s easygoing and light overall.

Loved Xavier and Sloane’s story.
Both Sloane and Xavier come from home environments that left alot to be desired. Very sad really and it basically changed the way they handled their lives and relationships. Lack of trust, lack of intimacy, lack of self confidence is what they both suffered from. Until Xavier recognizes something in Sloane that sparks something in him to make her an offer to spend a vacation with him away from their normal work relationship. Things get very interesting from there and we see them both start to feel things they never saw coming. It was fun, emotional, sad and crazy sexy. Loved watching them discover things in themselves that let each get more out of life than they ever imagined. loved it from start to finish.

Another great book by Ana Huang!
Spice: 3/5In King of Sloth, Ana Huang once again delivers a story with layered, complex characters that quickly drew me in. Sloane, the ultimate girl boss, is not only a successful publicist but a relatable workaholic whose journey made her all the more admirable. Xavier initially appears shallow, but as the story unfolds, the depth beneath his surface truly surprised me in the best way possible, adding layers to his character that I didn’t expect. The chemistry between Sloane and Xavier was undeniable, and the cameos from beloved characters in the Kings of Sin and Twisted series were a delightful touch, offering little glimpses into their lives that made me smile. While I did wish for a bit more closure on a certain plot point, I’m hopeful Vuk’s book will provide the answers. And honestly, a scene from Kai and Isabella’s wedding would have been the cherry on top!Tropes Include:- Grumpy x Sunshine- Forced Proximity- Billionaire MMC- He Falls First
