An okay reference
I learned to knit by taking classes at a yarn shop. I got this book to help me fix problems in-between my classes and visits to the yarn shop. But the book was a bit big to toss in my project bag, and I didn't find it useful. Instead, it was much easier and faster to watch a how-to knitting video online on my phone than to use the book.

Outstanding!
I am a master knitter. However--there are things I don't do often that I need a refresher on and that for me is what makes this book so useful. Yes, I could puzzle it out myself, but to be able to flip to the right page is a lot better! A lot of it is beginner stuff--which broadens its appeal significantly. I have found it handy to keep in my knitting bag and it opens flat for ease of use. As well as the occasional refresher for myself, it is very helpful when I'm explaining something to a fellow knitter with less experience, who may be stuck on some fine point of technique. I think every knitter should have this book. One person said it disappointed her because she still had to rip back. I always say you aren't really a knitter unless you can rip with impunity. We all make mistakes and pulling out incorrect knitting is part of the process. At least the author shows you how to insert a lifeline so you can rip and not worry about going back any farther than you need to.

Covers the basics
I'm by no means an expert knitter. In fact, I still consider myself a beginner. I already have the Vogue Knitting Quick Reference guide, which covers pretty much everything in this book. I was hoping for the "next step" in knit fixes. Unfortunately this book does not provide. Also, if you're looking to save money, much of what can be found here can also be found on the internet (with video even). On the plus side, the book is really well put together. The pictures are very clear and the instructions easy to follow. Also, it's a great design - like the vogue guide it has a spiral binding that lays flat while you fiddle with your sticks trying to figure out what went wrong!Bottom line: It's a good beginner's guide book, but others cover the same issues and more. Meanwhile, I'm still searching for a book that explains how to avoid holes when using short rows in the round...

Great help to a "newer" knitter.... gotten me out of a few jambs and saved from ripping things out
Great book for helping a "newer" knitter to get myself out of a jamb. Lots of times there is nobody to run to for help and I can't afford to always go in and pay for "tutoring" on knitting issues at my local yarn shop. This fills in that gap for me. SOOO glad to have this book. I like that it's spiral bound too so it lays flat!!!

Incredible resource for the new knitter
Awesome book! As a new knitter I was constantly frustrated not being able to fix my own mistakes. This is the best book I've seen for not only being able to correct the mistakes, but to understand what I did wrong so I can (hopefully) stop doing it! The illustrations are good photographs as well as drawings. I have recommended it over and over to new knitters, and they all agree it saved many hours of frustration. My LYS started carrying the book based on my recommendation. If you are a new knitter, GET THIS BOOK!

Boo-boo Buster
I make A LOT of mistakes--and this little book has been a bit of a life-saver. I actually had to rip out a binding row and this book gave me the courage to do so. Otherwise I'd have tossed the piece figuring oh well, live and learn.Has a permanent place on my shelf. And would make a great gift for anybody learning to knit.

Superb Guide to Solving Problems
I have been knitting as an adult for about 16 years and own a dozen knitting books. Knit Fix is hands-down the BEST guide to recognizing, repairing, and then preventing knitting errors. It is easy-to read and makes you feel as if the author is sitting next to you, coaching you. Other books skim over problems, but this one actually shows you what errors look like and then how to fix them. The only other book that even comes close to Knit Fix is the classic, Knitting Without Tears by Elizabeth Zimmerman. If you want to enjoy knitting, you need Knit Fix in your knitting bag.

Not bad for a beginner
Good colourful pictures with easy to read text. I was a little surprised at the limited number of 'fixes'. A few pages of casting on and binding off that are not 'fixes' and belong elsewhere. I wanted to quote where it suggested a dropped decrease be ripped out and re-knit, but there is NO INDEX so after flipping back and forth a few times I gave up. No index! Maybe I'll downgrade from three stars to two. There are better books out there.

Wonderful tips
Lots of good tips and directions. I wish I’d had this when I started knitting years ago.

Decevant
