Is it sturdy enough so that a strong and energetic baby can't topple it over?

Hi, this is very sturdy. My 2 year old granddaughter pushes it from the outside,whilst the 7 month old, who is very strong pulls himself to stand and it doesn't topple. I am extremely happy with the quality of this.

Is there a secondary thick mat that goes with this?

No secondary Matt, we have put down foam pad inside.

Which extra mat do you recommend purchasing to make the bottom thicker for tiled floor please?

I use 4 coloured interlocking mats under the playpen

Is there a canopy that goes with this playpen?

Yes. You can purchase a canopy that goes with this playpen. Would recommend having a look at the venture website to get the name. The canopy isn't compatible with the 2929 version though.
