Breathes new life into old Apple TV 2nd gen
I had some old Apple TV 2nd generation laying around. Given that they only output 720p, they are kind of past their visual life. However, they lend themselves perfectly to add AirPlay to speakers or HiFi systems. As they don't have audio out, nifty adapter did the trick. I configured the Apple TV on a monitor. When finished, I plugged in this adapter and connected the audio cable to a set of speakers. Works flawlessly!

Does what is says on the tin.My laptop only has HDMI outputs, but my external monitor had only VGA, DVI and DP. Voila, this little adaptor does the trick.Beware though...if you're using this in the back of the laptop, it may interfere with your docking station and other items on your desk (it does stick out a fair way once your cable is plugged into it).But the signal is reasonable. I've not noticed any flicker or lag.Happy with the product so far.

Waste of money really
I bought this adapter because my TV has no headphone socket, and this adapter has one. However, the HDMI socket on my TV is an input only socket and so therefore no sound signal is generated. Waste of money really.
