Product Description A spectacular journey of an unwilling young hero thrust into a mysterious past full of monsters, dragons, and strange hidden powers. Through a series of out of this world battles and adventures, Jun, a shy middle school boy, is transformed into a hero destined to battle evil and ensure harmony and tranquility in the world. From .co.uk As Legend of the Millennium Dragon begins, Jun Tendo, a normal-seeming middle school student, finds himself transported 1000 years into the past, to the Heian period, where a ferocious war is being waged between the Nobles and the Oni. As a descendant of the Magatama clan, Jun "the Young Saviour" can unseal the mighty dragon Orochi--and decide the conflict. The Oni are an ecologically minded people who fight in masks that give them the appearance of the oni, or demons, in traditional Japanese stories and art. The Nobles seeking to destroy them are led by Gen'un, a powerful and power-hungry monk. Everything rests on Jun's decision. Legend of the Millennium Dragon boasts handsome backgrounds and flamboyant special effects that suggest monsters, fire, water and lava. But it lacks a coherent story. Characters appear and disappear before the viewer has a chance to get to know them or care about what happens to them. Even Jun remains underdeveloped and far less interesting than his counterparts in numerous other anime films and series--as does Mizuha, his romantic interest. The results are like watching a play through thick glass: its intriguing qualities feel distant and lack any sense of immediacy. --Charles Solomon

A really enjoyable watch.
Even though this felt a little less anime and slightly more 'cartoonish', it was still very enjoyable to watch. The characters, despite lacking much depth, were sufficient to tell the story well and in such a way that you could connect with them. You feel empathy for the main protagonist Jun as he tries so hard to prevent bloodshed on both sides of an ancient war he was unwittingly dragged into from the streets of modern day Japan.Predictable in many ways, but totally watchable.

Easy watching.
I started to watch this with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised to be totally engaged in the story. You really feel the agony of Jun when trying to not get involved in a war he has nothing to do with. Spectacular animation and wonderful story. Give it a go and you may find you like it.

nice concept, good animation, medium script and art
Just bought Legend of The Millennium Dragon, although I haven`t seen it before, mainly because of the concept, which is quite good, based on ancient Japanese mythology, deities, dragons and warriors.Among these there is a young boy of nowadays, descendant of a noble clan who is transported back to the ancient times to help end the war between 2 human tribes. Many plus gets the production with a package of many European audio languages and many subtitles too. In my opinion, blue rays in Europe should contain all languages of the EU, at least as subtitles. The animation is good, with many dramatic 3D moving shots.Unfortunately the art itself, both background and characters is mediocre. Cannot be compared to Studio Ghibli stuff, it is at a level more like the Avatar series. The script also does not get deep into the characters, their reactions are easily foreseen by the viewers. For all of the above the 3 stars. The music is ok, also combining e-guitars and rock elements, but not breathtaking either. This film has a somehow easy and speechless ending, which was great, in my opinion at least. It was quite interesting.Overall: not a must to have, for sure you can do without it. But if you have a couple of pounds spare, why not, add it to the basket.
