A real educe
I have not suffered anxiety or depression myself, but I wanted to understand them better in order to support people that do. I found this book to be very honest and real, very educational and thought provoking. Highly recommend to anyone suffering or anyone wishes to learn.

A very honest personal experience of struggle
Relatable, shocking, eye-opening, and vulnerable. I enjoyed this book because it was raw! His experiences make me feel less alone. This isn't a book to cure your anxiety. it's a book of struggle and experience. I really loved the honesty. I felt like I was sitting with John as he told his story personally to me. Well written

Interesting and engaging
It's rare to find a therapist who shares their personal journey so openly and honestly and in grateful to the author for doing so. If your not spiritually mond don't let that put you off reading. I found it fascinating and enlightening.

A harrowing read, I have struggled with anxiety for years, to be honest, this book scared me and has not helped me, although I could not put it down I had to continue to the end. Sad that he had to resort to anti depressants in the end leaving me feeling disappointed for him. Not bashing drugs as I've been on mine over 20 years, was glad to then read it was only for a short time, as I am proof that they dont work forever and impossible to get off them after so long.Glad he is feeling well now.

Please read.
I came across this book by accident but thought the title interesting and as it was free said to myself 'why not'. I've only started reading this book but I'd like to thank John Crawford for writing this book and stipulating it be free of charge to the reader (thanks Amazon for sticking to it). Although John Crawford is a trained professional this book has been written from the point of view of someone who has suffered from anxiety and depression and is not rigid and stuffy, nor is it whining or self pitying, just real and human, so far I am enjoying it and think it is a good start to understanding these conditions wether you are suffering personally or know people who are. I look forward to completing this book and reading other books by this author. Thanks for sharing your experience John Crawford.

Having read 'You can fix your Anxiety' & gained the understanding & tools ...To then read this, it has had such a profound effect upon me it has been my catalyst on the path to recovery, it's an intense & interesting read into anothers mental health which makes you realise your not alone out there in dealing with your demons & gave me a picture of all the avenues tried & tested in what can become a frantic search to heal, ultimately through all the pain & suffering of this epic journey is the main message of a heartfelt gift of hope. This has had the power of the healing word for me. Thank you.

This just passed me by
I'm only just starting to recover from near enough a lifetime of being a generalised anxiety disorder sufferer, so was keen to read this, on not only a therapeutic level, but on an educational one too. I haven't read his previous books, so I don't know if one has to read them first to make full sense of this one, but I got very little out of this, if nothing at all. I'm sure he's a genuine guy who has really helped people, but I got no food for thought out of this book. The only thing that stays with me was a general outline of when he suffered his anxiety, the episode where he extraordinarily knew of a specific angst of his father, and of the success he's enjoyed in later life, albeit with a few stumbles along the way. I'm glad he's doing something good with his life but I just could not connect with this book whatsoever. I would tell him to try and include some brutal honesty and humour in his work in the future, and write a book that would engage himself first, not an imaginary reader.

A remarkable book.
This is an amazing book. John. takes you with him all the way on his journey, pulling no punches and sparing no detail, and at the start of the journey it's quite distressing as you really realise what some people go through. But ultimately it is an inspiring book, John shows his courage all the way through his battle back to health. He then went on to become a therapist himself, using his own experience to give him a insight into other people's situations.Anyone who is suffering would find hope and support in this book, it's like having your best friend on the bookshelf.

What an amazing book, what an amazing writer!
I bought this book immediately after buying John's self help book on anxiety. I couldn't put this book down, not only is this guy a world of very useful information but he is a fantastic writer, I read 2 of his books each within a week and am about to purchase the next, I couldn't put them down. I highly recommend this book to any anxiety/depression sufferer and even to people who don't suffer as it is such a good read. This poor guy has been to hell and back literally and he makes me feel I'm not alone with my horrendous anxiety struggles. What a book and what a writer! Highly highly recommended. Thank you John.

It saved My Life
This book is the best book I ever read about anxiety! When I read it I understood that even I could be free from my anxiety if I could learn how John did. I bought his second book the second I closed this. John is a person I really really want to have as my own counsler. His way out of anxiety is combinated with traditionelly ways and old ones from "the unknown word" that is something I belive in. The book is easy to read even for a person that not have english as first language. (I'm from Sweden). The story of his life is described in a way that really caught you and I feelt like as I was beside him not just reading about him. He gave me hope to carry on and I am now reading his second book and after just a bit in it I feel so much better. So READ this book if it so will be the only book you read in your life!

Meditation guru
It presents a personal and intimate account of the authorβs struggle with anxiety and mental illness, offering insights into the therapeutic process and the power of meditation. I found the book's real-life narrative eye-opening and appreciated the author's openness about his journey. But I couldnβt help but feel that the book, while inspiring isnβt addressing the complexities of mental health. The book draws inspiration from After the Ecstasy, the Laundry by Jack Kornfield, which sets a tone that suggests a balance between moments of peace and the ongoing struggles of daily life. This approach is commendable, but I felt that the emphasis on the continuous battle for health sometimes overshadowed the moments of genuine peace and recovery. As I read through the narrative, I found myself yearning for more moments where the author delves deeper into the peaceful aspects of recovery, rather than focusing primarily on the struggle. Another point of contention for me was the book's focus on meditation as a key tool for managing anxiety. While I recognize and respect the benefits of meditation, I felt that the book leaned too heavily on this single approach. In my experience, mental health recovery is multifaceted, and I would have appreciated more diverse strategies beyond meditation.

Thank you, John, for sharing such deeply profound and troubling journeys throughout your life!
There aren't many people who would honestly and concisely divulge such personal and private information in an attempt to enlighten and protect other people who may be inclined to explore every nuance of spiritualism, reality versus possible neurosis, hallucinations, and physical manifestations of that exploration. I found the information in this book to be extremely helpful. How far is too far to veer off into unknown religions, cultures, and beliefs, without a firm psychological background, and vast experiences in alternative energies or mental practices upon which to build upon? I have always been an inquisitive soul, so I appreciate the information provided by the author which may very well have prevented myself and other creative individuals from delving into mysteries best left alone or to the professionals in their various fields of expertise. Thanks, John, for saving me from my natural curiosity in the strange, bizarre, unknown, and mystical realms, that I have no business exploring. I appreciate the courage that it took for you as a professional therapist and hypnotherapist. to write honestly and completely about your experiences, difficulties, and hardships and use your own name, rather than using a non-de-plume; You're an inspiration for all of the people in the world experiencing some of the problems that you've been through, or are presently going through. Thank you, John Crawford!!!ππππππππππππ

Interesting Journey
I really enjoyed reading about John's journey with anxiety and depression. It provided a different perspective and helped me understand my own journey a little better.
