I put together packets for presentations and was looking for a stapler that could get staples through the many pages in the booklets without getting jammed or bent. The Swingline Optima 45 Electric Stapler was just what I was looking for!This stapler has a streamlined design and an orange LED light on the front. The light is solid when plugged in and will flash when the staples are low or when there is a jam. There is a guide at the front of the stapler that also lights up to show where the staple will go. The depth adjustment lever can place staples anywhere from 0.25 inches to 1.125 inches from the edge of the paper. They are made out of orange plastic and feel a little flimsy and have to be pushed in together in order to move the guide. An equally flimsy switch toggles between automatic and manual operation.A button on the back releases the spring loaded staple magazine that holds an entire strip of staples. Extra staples (up to 8 strips) can be stored in the storage compartment under the front of the stapler. The front of the stapler has an indentation that can be used to measure the up to 45 sheets of 20 lb paper that the stapler can handle. This is a neat touch.The stapler has some neat features, but how does it work? I tested it with stacks of paper ranging from 2 sheets up to 45 and it worked great. I did not have a single jam and the stapler is very quiet. I have only used the recommended Optima premium staples, which is what Swingline recommends for jam free performance.I will update if I have any problems, but this is a great stapler at a great price!

Noisy and not easy to use plus no space for battery as advertise.

The media could not be loaded. While I haven't had a chance to evaluate this stapler over an extended period, out of the box it works just fine. It operates in two modes. In auto, just slide papers into the stapler table and it activates. In manual, a light touch (no pressure needed) on the top of the unit activates the stapling function.It easily stapled its claimed 45 sheet capacity.Why four stars instead of five ?(1) Bulk. This is not a good choice if you have limited space(2) Giant wall wart AC adapter. You'll need an outlet or power strip with plenty of room(3) Use instructions say to use "Optima" staples. These are the same size as Swingline's standard staples, but considerably pricier: at current amazon prices, the Optima staples are about three times the cost of standard staples. Both varieties are quite affordable, but these are the marginal costs that add up over time. A visual inspection of the two kinds revealed no obvious differences.

A replacement for a less advanced older model. Flawless performance. Good price from Amazon.

I have tried a few staplers before and they often jammed . This one is one of the best, it is well built, powerful, useful and sturdy.It can be used in Auto or Manual mode with adjustable depth and a handy compartment to keep spare staples.It performs well every time. Good job Swingline!
