Introduction: Li-Fi, or visible light communications (VLC), has made a significant breakthrough with transmission speeds of 10Gbit/s, over 250 times faster than superfast broadband. This surpasses previous records of 3Gbit/s. Li-Fi uses visible light to transmit data, offering reduced costs and greater efficiency compared to traditional Wi-Fi. Unlike Wi-Fi, which uses radio waves, Li-Fi takes advantage of the abundant visible light spectrum, allowing for higher data density. It operates across a wide range of frequencies and wavelengths, including infrared, visible, and ultraviolet. Li-Fi supports various communication speeds and ranges, with both unidirectional and bidirectional data transfer using different techniques. It is not limited to specific light sources or receiving methods, providing new capabilities to current and future applications. The concept of Li-Fi was introduced by Prof Harald Haas from the University of Edinburgh, showcasing the ability to transmit data using rapid LED switching. Li-Fi is seen by many experts as the future of mobile internet due to its advantages over Wi-Fi. The methodology for voice communication through visible light involves converting voice into an electrical signal using a microphone, amplifying the signal, and transmitting it through a power LED. At the receiver side, the light-dependent resistor receives the light signal and generates an electrical signal proportional to it. This signal is demodulated and fed into a speaker to reproduce the original voice signal. Advantages: 1.A free band that does not need a license. 2.High installment cost but very low maintenance cost. 3.Cheaper than Wi-Fi. 4.Theoretical speed up to 1 GB per second: Less time & energy consumption. 5.Lower electricity costs. 6.Longevity of LED bulb: saves money. 7.Light doesn’t penetrate through walls: secured access.
