The best (and only) ultra-wide lap desk on the market!
I'd been looking for an extra-wide lap desk for a while before I found the PILOT Lap Desk. There really doesn't seem to be anything else like this out on the market and a lot of thought went into the design, which probably accounts for the higher price point. However, after using this lap desk for a while, I feel the purchase price is worth it. When I ordered this item, it included Amazon Prime free shipping though, which is worth noting.I have an Alienware 15R2 that I mostly play games on using a Razer Naga mouse and Razer Tartarus game pad. Sometimes I like to get up from the desk and play in other rooms in the house, which isn't very easy to do sometimes. Most lap desks on the market won't allow the use of my gamepad, meaning I have to balance it awkwardly on a book or the arm of a chair. But this lap desk definitely makes it easier and more comfortable to play games just like I would at a traditional desk. The PILOT Lap Desk is made of solid layers of bamboo—no veneer or paint—and it looks and feels natural to the touch. The outer edges are tapered for comfort and sanded smooth. To help with weight and heat, the center has a cut out design with a rubber pad on top to keep your laptop from slipping. The mouse pad material is a soft fabric that tracks well with my mouse and feels like it will hold up over time. The cutouts for tablet/phone display are a nice touch as well, letting me look at guides or videos while I play on my laptop. There are only two minor negatives that I will mention, just out of full disclosure. The size works fine with my 15" laptop, but would not work well with anything larger. iSkelter does mention that 15" is the largest laptop size they suggest using this with, but I wouldn't mind even one extra inch in length or width just to give my mouse more room to move. The other very minor gripe I have is that the cutouts for the center airflow and tablet stands seem to have been hastily made. You can see in one of my photos where the router bit went just a smidgeon further than intended in a few areas and left a weird rounded cut in the corners. It doesn't affect the stability of the item in the slightest, it's just a minor detail I noticed.Overall, though, this lap desk is extremely well designed and will get a lot of use in my home.

Bigger Better lap Desk
Okay, I love this thing, it's awesome design, mouse pad is a hard plastic that makes the mouse glide like silk. It holds up on the sofa chair arms and is bigger than the lap stands filled with bean bag stuffing.Pro-Light weightStronglength is perfect to use as a tableCon-The slots for the phone and tablet seems a bit smallThe slots will not fit my phone because it is in a case making it too fat to fit into the hole.It has no padding on the underside making it a bit hard on the lap after extended use.Things that would make this even better -add padding to the bottom of the desk. At least in the middle for legsadd a hole for a pen drilled into the side of the top end- pointing outwardmake the hole for the tablet- wider so I can fit my ipad procut a hole and insert a magnet to the side so I can add a pen or accessoryput tiny holes at the bottom in a row in where I can add small pegs (In case I want to stop the laptop from sliding down on top of me)Make one like that and I will purchase another, thanks

Buy some sand paper, too
I do a lot of computer work from home. I have three lap desks in total, one for bed, one by my recliner, and one by the couch. This is the crappiest. It is as advertised, but it is hardly a premium product. If you order this, I suggest you buy some sand paper to go with it. Most of the edges will need to be smoothed down to avoid splinters. However, the mousepad is not even with the surface of the desk, so it's going to be a perpetual irritant that sand paper won't be able to fix. Ordering a mousepad to go over the mousepad on the desk is probably a good idea. You might want to order some 3M adhesive or glue to secure the mousepad in place. Then, once you get it sanded down properly, you might want to apply some light stain to make it look like you didn't have to sand it down after you bought it.You know what? Why not just go to your local Ace Hardware and buy a piece of pine board? Get some basic power tools from Amazon and you'll be able to make a lap desk that doesn't look like it was a junior high school students wood shop project.I have two of these: Bamboo Laptop Lap Desk of Extra Large Size | Natural Bamboo Lapdesk Surface with Cushion and Handle | Can Be Used As A Mobile Desk, Bed Tray, Book Stand, Coloring and Writing Table and if the size works for you, I recommend it. It's not as wide, but it's deeper, and it's a nice product.
