Great VFM but you get a slop of mush rather than pieces
For canned mackerel, I’ve tried this brand as well as Kingfood. In both cases, the cans contain a slop of mush rather than pieces—but I’d say three stars and not one because if you fry it and use it in a sandwich or something like that, the taste is decent. Plus, value for money doesn’t get any better than this.

A low quality product
A low quality product. Though labelled as mackerel, it wasn't original mackerel canned. A cheaper variety of fish has been packed, which resembles mackerel. This wild variety has large round eyes and hardened scale formation towards tail with scientific name Selar crumenophthalmus. This is not mackerel. The label, 'Sea Crown Mackerel in brine oil', doesn't also mention what oil has been used. It seems, the oil used is also substandard as the dish made and kept in fridge thickened and soldified in couple of minutes suggesting use of vanaspathi or animal fat therein. Altogether an inferior product, with no value for money.

Net content weight not as declared.
The producer declares net weight 400 g and drained weight 240 g fish but in realty fish weighs only 189 g and the rest of brine and oil weighs 206g. It comes out that the fish is 51g or 21% less packaged

For those who love canned food
Growing up I ate a lot of canned foods, from pork to beef to chicken to fish. And I'm happy to say that this canned mackerel definitely has the peculiar, but not metallic, typical canned taste that I oddly love so much. The content is well worth the price in terms of quality and quantity.

No Fish
There is no chunk of fish inside the can. Only some left over small pieces of fish.
