I am engaged in a multifold plan to improve sleep, which has become disturbed as a result of getting older and taking a wakefulness drug that I am phasing out on my health care provider's advice. I am looking to shower before bed, have a brief afternoon nap, and explore sleep support supplements, such as this entry from Vimerson. Calcium is well known as a calming agent, but 5-HTP is new to me -- apparently it is a seed extract. It is said to promote serotonin in the body, which improves mood and sleep. This certainly sounds worth a try, and I am going to assume the recommended two capsules are to be taken at bedtime, although this is not spelled out on the label. These mood support supplements are horrible. Not sure if it's just my body couldn't handle them or what but they made me so very sick. I had even gotten every effect that it had on the bottle. Thy made my stomach cramp, vomiting, headache and etc. I would not recommend this product to anyone. The flavor was bad but they wasn't that hard to swallow.

It works

I am a person who believes in natural supplements. However, everyone must be careful to assess the efficiency and safeness of all of these products. We are prone to mood swings in this family. Some of us have had to begin with anti-depressants. A few others use 5-HTP very successfully. It does work! The correct dose age is 300mg per day. This brand is made of quality ingredients and made in the USA. The dose for this brand is 2 tabs (400mg) with a meal. I’m looking forward to assessing this brand.

I've been taking already almost the whole bottle but don't notice a difference. Hope it works better for other people.

I've used 5-HTP before, but this is the first time using this brand. I have tried other products from this company and been pleased, so I didn't hesitate when I saw they now offer this as well. Serving size is 2 capsules and they are small and easy to swallow with no aftertaste. 5-HTP is recommended for anxiety and depression. While some people find more benefit in prescription medicines, many find this supplement to be sufficient. As with any supplement, speak with your doctor and use what works best for you!

I hoped within a few weeks I'd notice some potential impact from incorporating 5-HTP into my regimen. Nothing noticable so far, good or bad. I haven't correlated usage of this with any MCAS reactivity. This can be tough to suss out since there are many potential triggers. I don't think this product has made a recognizable impact on my noggin yet. It may take time, understandably. I appreciate the lack of negatives. At this point, though, I don't think I'd reoder this unless a notable benefit appears before I run out.
