Is this cord paintable? I'd like to use it going up a wall on a screened-in porch & would like to paint it to match the siding.

Sorry, we are against painting any extension cords because the chemicals in the paint will clash with the chemicals in the compound used to make the cords. Also it prevents heat from escaping which could be dangerous and start a fire. Thank you for understanding.

Does the cable have any printing on it surface? Most power cables have information printed along the cable (i.e. the gauge and a model number).

All Clear Power cords have the required UL & CSA information indented into the jacket (not printed) including the gauge, wire type, and testing agency (UL or ETL) file number.

In this case, the indented markings will show 16/3AWG 300V SJTW 60C along with the testing agency file number.

Would this work on a generator for camping?

Hi David,

Thank you for your question and for your interest in this Clear Power extension cord. This cord is rated for 13amps so if the tools or devices that will be connected to the cord don’t exceed 13amps then this cord will suffice. However, if you are planning to plug in any tools or devices rated more than 13amps (up to 15amps) we would recommend DCOC-0077-DC, as it is able to handle tools and appliances rated up to 15 amps.

Additionally, always remember to fully uncoil the cord while in use - especially when used with a generator so it doesn’t overheat.

I bought this for outdoor use 24/7-Intstructions said not for
outdoor use-so, where can it be used? I don't need indoor!

Thank you for your question and interest in Clear Power products. This cord is rated for both indoor & outdoor use. Am guessing that you were reading the UL safety tag information that states “A cord set not marked for outdoor use is to be used Indoors only. See label for outdoor marking.” The label this warning refers to is another tag that is on the actual cord. If, like this cord, the ETL or UL label states “Outdoor Use Cordset” then it shows that the cord has been tested and certified for outdoor use.

One other piece of advice: All extension cords are listed “For temporary use only – Unplug when not in use. Store in a cool dry place.” You mentioned that you want to use it “24/7.”Although we cannot tell you what to do, we strongly recommend that if you need this cord for a permanent application that you consult a licensed electrician to see about a hard-wired, properly insulated solution.
