Love and All Things Thorny
[bookcover:Mountains Made of Glass|84354929]I do not even know where to start, this book had me by the throat and would not let go until I finished it. If I am being honest it still has a hold one me. I absolutely loved Casamir and Gesela. This fairytale retelling felt like no fairytale I had ever read before while at the same time bringing with it a sense of familiarity as it wove together bits and pieces of so many beloved tales. We meet Gesela shortly before she is sent to break a curse that has befallen her village, one of many, however each curse broken comes with consequences for the one who broke it. The consequences for having broken the curse that has befallen the village this time finds Gesela face to face with five Elven Princes, the brothers of the cursed prince she killed in order to break the curse. As punishment for killing their brother she is sent to be the prisoner of the seventh brother. But, to earn her freedom she must speak his name within in seven days. However, there is a catch...She must speak his name in love in order to set him free as well. This story was so beautiful, it had me wanting to smack Casamir for being an idiot but loving him in the same breath. I love Gesela, watching her struggle with her feelings for Casamir and slowly realizing everything he gave her or was willing to do for her so that she never need know pain again. Not only were Casamir and Gesela beautifully written but this book is also full of amazing side characters some you will love and others that you will love to hate. Each though brings something to the story that drives it forward and makes the ending all the more beautiful. The spice in this story was just perfect and it never felt forced. I loved that it was in these moments that saw the characters growing closer that they also struggled with what that meant for them. That while they could appreciate the passion, desire and longing that they felt for each other that they were still hesitant to admit that those feelings may actually be the product of something far stronger growing between them. There is so much I want to say about this book but I am terrible at telling people all of my favorite parts so that they will read a book, so I shall stop here to avoid any spoilers. Just know that this book is the beautiful beginning of something far larger.

Funtime 😂
I absolutely had such a great time reading this book. Had some good laughing moments and a bit cringy moments but bearable I would say, they just make you laugh.Honestly, I did find Gesela a bit annoying at first but later you get use to her and learn all that she went through and understand why she is the way she is. Casamir, the Elven prince, is really cool. The way he would transform himself to his beast form and the way his eyes get. *cough* pitch black, what?! Yup totally dig that. The moments with him and Gesela are wow ... hot I will admit. I will say this, my favorite moments would be with Casamir, Naeve, and The mirror. I just loved them. They had me cracking up throughout the book. Poor Casamir lolThis is a retelling of what seemed to me a bit of Beauty and the Beast. Does has its differences but I liked it.If you love fantasy retellings and want to have a funtime, I would recommend this book. Easy to read, fast paced that was done very well storywise for a short book, and writing that makes you imagine the world and characters in your head so much better.Scarlett St Clair once again does not disappoints.

Ok, mostly
This is a strange story. Enemies-to-lovers trope with a rushed timeline. The author adds far too many different fairytale elements into this one book. Perhaps she is setting up for more stories interconnected in this world, but the overall story was just too convoluted.Anyway, there is near non-stop sex in this book, through action, thought, and speech. It is almost surprising that a story was hidden among the spice. Though, admittedly, the spicy scenes between Gesela and Casamir are probably the better written parts in the whole book.

A great dark sexy romance fairy tale
I really loved this book after I understood what it was meant to be. I think people who rate this at 3 or 4 stars are expecting it to be like St. Clair's longer romantasy books. It is meant to be a dark fairy tale, like the kinds that are short and will have holes that you can't explain because it's just fun and engaging in the way a Grimm's fairy tale is. If you read this book with this mindset and love St. Clair's other work, I think you'll love this book. It's fun, spicy, and a quick read. I like that it just kept moving. Forget explaining every nook and cranny and just enjoy the ride. I'm really looking forward to seeing the next books in this series too. So many hot princes to come!

Dark and fantastical fairytale telling!
🪞"You were made for this," I said.He smiled and asked, "Made for what, sweet creature?"I answered, "Heartbreak."🪞Mountains Made of Glass by Scarlett St. Clair. This is the first of 7 new novellas that are a mix of many known and unknown fairytales retold in a way that is unique, magical, and enticing!✨This book had everything! It was dark and fantastical while also being spicy and surprising. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. Especially with needing to solve the riddle, which I can say I succeeded in!✨The story of Gesela and Casamir is so captivating as we follow them through learning about their pasts and themselves and how they must overcome to understand a bigger picture. All while dealing with twists and turns that get in the way.✨With such a great plot also comes amazing characters! Not only do Gesela and Casamir have my heart, but Wolf, Mirror, and Naeve are some of the best side characters I've ever read. Scarlett has a habit of writing lovable side characters that add so much to her stories.✨I'm a huge fan of Scarlett's, but I think this has to be my favorite story of hers yet! If you swipe through the photos you'll see a quick blurb about the book as well as some beautiful character art for Casamir and Gesela! This was such a fun and short read and obviously 5⭐s for me! I definitely think everyone should give it a try! Currently the book is only offered as an ebook, but she is planning to have physical copies once more of the novellas are out.

Massive Berge, Spiegel, Dornen, Fluch ... Liebe & Happy End 🖤

FINALLY a real 'fairytale' vibe with spice
Loved the book! There are many fairytale retellings with spice, or even set in fairytale like worlds, but none actually nail that Grimm x Andersen vibe like Scarlett did with this book! I cannot wait for the others in the series.
