USES Swedish bitters – composition, properties and application Swedish bitters are known for their therapeutic properties. The herbal mix has such a broad therapeutic effect, that it may surely be called an universal remedy. Composition, properties and application of the famous Swedish bitters are provided below. Swedish bitters - composition A mix of 13 ingredients -Angelica archangelica root -zedoary root -wormwood herb -senna leaves -manna -carline thistle root -myrrh -rhubarb root -camphor -valerian root -cinnamon -cardamom -saffron Application: Dilute the tincture with water! Do not combine with milk! Prophylaxis - 1 teaspoonful of tincture in the morning and at night. Indispositions - 3 teaspoonfuls of tincture a day. More serious diseases - 2-3 tablespoonfuls a day. Contraindications: severe bowel obstruction severe renal failure hepatic cirrhosis pregnancy and breastfeeding Swedish bitters – a recipe for tincture Add 1.5 litre of 38-40% alcohol to the herbal mix. Leave for 14 days in a warm place (approx. 25°C). Shake the mixture every day. After 14 days, filter and pour into dark bottles, close and store in cool places. The tincture may be stored for several years. Swedish bitters - compresses Put a greasy ointment on the affected place. Moisten a piece of gauze/lignin with the tincture. Apply over the affected place, and cover with a bandage. Keep for at least 2 hours or longer (preferably, overnight). In case of development of reddening or burning sensation, or other symptoms of allergy – remove the compress immediately. Headaches and vertigo, fainting – smelling Swedish bitter, applying on the top of the head or compress of a piece of cloth moistened with the tincture.
