Excellent DAC
This is an excellent DAC for the money. It's just a tad lacking in the bass department. Very dynamic, great soundstage, musical and no listening fatigue. You cannot do better under $1000.00 or more.

Mediocre but better than a number of AKM and ESS chip dacs at this price
Soundwise, I would say it is a bit on the boring side. I was looking for a dac with xlr and rca inputs and outputs with an inoffensive sound for less than $500. I tried several others in the same price range and this dac with the ROHM chip was not as awful as a number of AKM and ESS chip dacs are for listening to classical music. Recently, I was able to find an affordable TDA1541 dac which actually sounds like-like and the D300 has been disposed of.
