Very good book
I enjoyed this book. It give a lot of good information on how to photograph water drops from rain. It has a lot of good pictures and explanation of how the photo was taken.

a different world
some of the images shows promise, some were too ''arty'' for my taste. some one else may feel different.. Arty is good if it looks like that's what the photographer intended.. arty in this book sometimes looked as if it was not a mistake but near enough to what I meant. I have not tried to do any of the ideas in the book.

Photographing waterdrop
I was hoping to read more technique. The author refered us to another of his publication...I hate that. Why not giving it right away

Some nice pictures, but not much to learn
I was very disappointed with this book. I was expecting to learn something about photographing waterdrops and macro photography. Instead, I got one description after another of what was happening in the author's life when he decided to shoot a picture of some waterdrops on a flower. After about 86 pages, when he FINALLY begins to get into some technical details...even then it's very vague and not particularly helpful. In fact, when it comes down to what is arguably the most important technical aspect of this work, the choice of lenses, Mr. Davis does little more than provide a lengthy chart of available macro lenses, without much in terms of actual recommendations. Also, the sorts of waterdrops that he photographs are all pretty much variations on the theme of morning dew on a flower. This really should have been made more explicit. Specifically, there is zero coverage of stop-action photography of splashing waterdrops. The physical quality of the book is very good. The pages are thick and the print is colorful. Many, but not all, of the photographs are quite excellent. If I had known what I was getting into, I would not have bought this book. "Photographing Waterdrops" would make a good coffee table book. However, as an instructional text in photography, it fails miserably.

Breathtaking Photography from the Macro World
I love "how to books" with rich illustrations that do justice to presenting ones techniques... and this book does not dissappoint! Mr. Davis shares not only his passion for the craft, but great insite into his motivations for how he conceives, masters, and even by what he himself is often surprised of in the final results. This book shows what many fail to ever take much notice of in the world around them and is even more richly possible with all the fine photography hardware and software available today. Enjoy this book and be inspired and motivated to go exploring down into another world within our own!

Critique
I have to say that I was disappointed in this book. The text part is fine, informative and certainly extensive but as this is a photopgraphy book I expected much more from the pictures! I think that quite a few of them are substandard, being not tack sharp or even sharp.I see that on many pictures extension tube was used with a macro lense plus on top of that + 4 diopter close up glass. The extension tubes do not effect the quality but the + 4 glass does and it shows. Why was it used I wonder ? One can certainly get close enough with a good quality macro lense,I don't think that waterdrops benefit from the soft focus, just the opposite they should be tack sharp to be pleasing to look at.Also I think that at least a short chapter could have been included about waterdrop photography in a studio setting as a lot of neat things can be done with them.By the time I got through the book I was still quite disturbed by the picture quality and would not have purchased the book had I looked at it in a book store first.

Very pleased
This is an enjoyable read for anyone who loves creative photography. Am very happy with both content, photos and love the cover on the book. Was delivered in a timely manner as have been all my Amazon purchases.

It's great
This is serious close up work. Great pictures and reading is nice. It's not really my cup of tea, though.

Give it a miss.
Very poor overall lots of poor images, and very little instruction on how to take the your own images. A typical American, written in a way that we have no knowledge of photography. This is not a beginners subject.

Not what I expected!
I was looking for a book that would help with some macro techniques. This was not it -> its more about a guy running around in his garden looking for water drops after the rain. This turns out to be more of a coffee table book with some EDIF data on all the pictures. There is a small section at the back of the book that discusses some equipment and techniques -> wish that that section was longer.Very dissappointing book!
