Nice savoury drink.
I was after a drink that wasn't sweet, caffeine free and hot. That narrowed it down to redbush tea, fruit teas and this! If you think of it as a coffee substitute, it tastes like cheap (but not bitter) instant coffee. If you think of it as a drink in its own right, then it's pretty nice and is enjoyable to drink in the evening.

I do not drink tea or coffee and have found that Caro is the best non-caffinated drink there is. Have it without milk or sugar and it's great.Gilly

I LOVE CARO EXTRA - Please bring it back!! Am on my last jar-HELP!
I have been drinking Caro Extra for 35 years - at least 5 cups a day - so am devastated to hear that the producer - apparently made for Nestle by a company in Italy called OSEM - are no longer making it, since taking over OSEM in February 16, Nestle appear to have discontinued it. Its a WONDERFUL beverage, and unlike coffee is non-diuretic, and can be drunk at any time of the day or night. PLEASE , PLEASE continue producing it!
