Out of date!
This book uses a now dated version of django:1.8.6. I couldn't get the blog app's models.py settings to pass inspection by makemigrations. This was because I installed django 2.0.3. This django version requires that models.ForeignKey be passed an 'on_delete' parameter. Whereas the old django 1.8.6 doesn't seem to require this.Don't purchase this book because it is using an out of date version of django. This is something you should be aware of as too many books on django are essentially out of date. Don't purchase a django book that uses any django version before 1.11.

best django book ive rrad so far! a must buy!
I feel compelled to write a review of this book due to the work that has gone into it. If you're getting into django look no further, this is the best django book I've come across and if you use it properly you'll be building advanced sites and apps in no time! :-)

Sloppy code examples with bits missing, in some palces typos saying 'edit views.py' when it means 'models.py' at on point it tells you to edit a function based view it told you to delete a few chapters previously. Disappointing as otherwise really getting into the book.

Awesome book for the Python to Django transition
Yeh, not a bad little book all in all. Definitely helps understand the basis of Django web development (models, views, templates etc) with learning practical examples. Dare say it might be a little out of date now but still very good for 2017.

A must for anyone learning Django
So far, this is the best hands-on guide for learning Django. The book covers a lot in its ~500 pages (including the extra chapter for download). For a similar price as other Django books, you will get a book that covers two times more stuff. Also, this book targets Django 1.8, which is the long-term support release. The book showcases a lot of real-world examples, including integration with Redis, Celery/RabbitMQ and Solr. I found some concepts a bit more difficult to understand, but explanations are clear and the code is very straightforward. Even if you already know Django, you will find this a useful book.I specially enjoyed the chapter on how to build a product recommendation engine.

Good buy for the intermediate Django programmer
On the face of it you might think that Django examples could be culled from the web - well maybe. But this book goes that bit further than the normal introductory blog example and takes the reader into intermediate territory. I found the examples on pdf creation and celery really helpful. This is a good book for those progressing from the beginner tutorials.

Too many errors
Too many errors in the book. If u are a beginner, this would be really difficult for u to figure out and fix the errors.Explanations also very superficial.
