Ba Gua Nei Gong Volume 1: Yin Yang Patting And Dao Yin Exercises

Essential Training For Internal Martial Arts
This book is the first one in a series about the internal martial art, Ba Gua.It's a good idea to read the series in the order intended, and also to practice them in the order intended. This book covers the patting-striking of the body and limbs. The benefits of this practice is that it wakes up the whole body, increases circulation, and loosens up the fascia. When done a little harder, these exercises increase bone density and condition the body to take more punishment. These exercises are also very similar to part of an Iron Body program taught in many branches of Kung Fu.You don't have to practice Ba Gua to benefit from these exercises, they are not specific to Ba Gua. But they would benefit any internal martial art practice. I get the most benefit from this series when practiced as soon as I get up in the morning. It's a real energizer for the day. Tom Bisio is a gifted teacher, and writes in a very clear way, making otherwise esoteric knowledge understandable. Well worth the investment for any martial artist.

The instructions were generally easy to follow
This information was not available in printed form before this book was published (at least I couldn't find it). Yes, the book is pricey for the number of pages. At the same time, the cost of a single trip driving to New York would far exceed the cost of the book. The instructions were generally easy to follow, although there were a few instances where I needed to interpret (e.g. which direction to trace around the eye sockets). The author hints there is something that is suppose to happen after 100 days of continuous practice. What I noticed was around 85 days I began to slowly loose weight until I lost about 15 pounds. Was this due to the self-massage dao yin exercises or a stricter observance of my low-carb diet? I'm sleeping better at night because I'm breathing better (I don't wake up with constricted sinuses). The changes appear subtle to me, but I'm also insensitive to internal engery experiences. A friend that is more sensitive claims he noticed a significant change in my energy patterns. So, for the price of one private lesson, I bought 2 books on nei gong, and I'm on the road to internal energy development. I estimate it will take me 3-4 years to work through the bagua nei gong series based on the first book.

Ba Gua Nei Gong Volume 1: Yin Yang Patting And Dao Yin Exercises
The material here is good, and the author is knowledgable.I'm giving this 3 stars because the layout and formatting of the book itself is semi-pro; the photos are poor quality - that is the contrast is bad, not allowing detail to come through. The graphics look like there were lifted out of an acupuncture text book so the resolution of the drawings are low. Some of the language of the book and about the practice is a little cryptic and archaic - I won't include examples just now.1/5 of this very short book is the glossary. That's more than 20 pages. The other two 'books' of this series include the same glossary. I'm all for micro-publications, but I agree with a previous review that notes the price is out of line for such a small book.thanks Tom for sharing your experience and knowledge with us... that part deserves 5 stars*****

Get them all
I am not going to do a long treatise or mutiple reviews on the virtues of Mr. Tom Bisio's books. I have most of them. That should say something unto itself. I know of Mr. Bisio's past impecabble pedigree in Filipino Martial Arts. It shows in the sincerity and authenticity of his current Chinese martial arts books offerings. If you are a scholar and practitioner of Chinese internal martial arts it would behoove you to purchase all his books. No book can teach you martial arts but Mr. Bisio's book can give you a glimpse, hint, and possibly some kind of insight in your current practices and experiences. It would be the beginnings of a good start on THE WAY.

Brilliant Bargain
Some teachers charge thousands of dollars to share this deep transformative information. This is one of those best kept secrets. Mr Bisio is a great human being for sharing it and a great Master for knowing it.
