Like a violin songbook
The setlist of this double CD serves as a small anthology of great violin literature - moreover, played immaculately. The famous Russian violinist (of Jewish origin, as many of the best violin players in history have been - Heifetz, Kremer, Perlman) plays concertos by Bach (and the double concerto by Bach with his son Igor), two beautiful romances by Beethoven with English Royal Philharmony on CD one, and the classic Concerto twins (Brahms and Tchaikovsky) on CD two, recorded with East German orchestra back in 1954.Oistrach’s fully-fledged virtuosity is combined with the right emotion, the singing sound of instrument especially admirable and touching in slower Beethoven and Brahms, very light and effortless in faster Bach movements. Even if you just remotely like violin, this is for you. For buffs, this is an important piece of music history.

A violinist so great.
Listening to David Oistrakh playing is something out of this world and when you say more, more .

Wonderful playing on the one correct disc
One incorrect disc, completely different from what the CD was supposed to be. Mistake which needs to be rectified by seller.

Wonderful collection
Wonderful collection. Of course I cannot add anything that it has not been told already about David Oistrakh. He is supreme and that collection is perfect, both from the quality of the sound reproduction and the graphics of the inner disk covers. Each one reproduces the otiginal LP covers.
