Cuts through most things like butter which is the main purpose of a knife. One of my knifes had a little scratch on it which makes me think the black stuff scratches off easily. Expected for the price, but they do the job and very well! Also the base is wooden and painted black, has a good weight to it. It doesn’t look like wood unless you flip it upside down 👍. The black handles on the knifes are nice. 5 stars!

Have been using these regularly. We have been placing the knives in the dishwasher. We do have 1 knife that appears to be coming apart. We also have another knife that is losing its black color. The scissors that come with this set are top notch. All in all, a good set with lots of options.

The block is very sturdy, nice size and shape. There are some issues with the block that are only aesthetic. There appears to be some cuts or manufacturing issues with the bottom of the block. When it is sitting upright it is noticeable as the gouge shows near the bottom on one of the sides but I could not get a good picture of it. Still it's near the bottom and not very noticeable but for this reason alone I would say that this would not make a good gift. Hopefully this is a one-time issue that just got past their quality control.This is a pretty beautiful set of knives. The handle design seems nice. It feels just slightly awkward in my hand but that may be because I'm used to my current knives. The blades have a nice black powder coating. That's probably going to be toast as soon as they need to be resharpened with a good stone. However right out of the box the blades are very sharp and light weight. This set comes with scissors and a hand held knife honing steel. That was definitely a surprise in this set. It definitely will inspire you to feel like a chef. These blades seem like they will be easy to clean and maintain. I haven't tested them by leaving them in water but nor would I want to. That's a good way to ruin a knife. I would suggest hand wash immediate dry and replace back in the block for safety. Do not use a dishwasher.For the money even with the issues with the block I think this is a fantastic value. Like I stated before I don't think it's giftable because of the block however I would not hesitate to give it to my daughter simply because of the knives.

This is a very nice gift.- It arrived nicely packaged so it could make a great gift-They look nice, all black matches my decor very well-I rated it 4 stars because one of the knives had a bur / rough edge on the large knife- With the honing rod/sharpening rod I was able to sharpen the knife and remove the rough edgeFor the price, this is a nice value.

I needed to replace my knife set after an unfortunate roommate cooking incident. I was looking for something that would have all different knives I would usually use but something that should last a lot longer than my other set. Not only are they practical and fit my somewhat intermediate culinary needs, they are sharp and look expensive with the wooden block. Not sure how long the black coating would last on the knives but so far I am very pleased with this set and so is my roommate.

This is a great looking knife set that looks modern and unique, which is a huge plus when you're leaving it out on your counter.It has more knives than I could pretend to know what the uses are for, but they are comfortable to hold, seem well balanced and cut cleanly and easily.I think that's all you need in a knife! At least, if you're me!Certainly recommend this as a nice gift or upgrade to your knife set.

Overall this is a beautiful knife set. The entire thing has a really sleek, high end look to it. The knives cut everything like butter and the added scissor feature is a perfect touch. The knives are comfortable to hold and to use. My only complaint is that I wish it had a built in knife sharpener. You can certainly use any sharpener but having one built into this would be so nice since it has such a great look. Overall a great starter set.

Really nice set of knives for the price.

The knives are all very nice and cut beautifully so far except the steak knives. These knives are very serrated, and seem to get stuck when cutting and end up coming right off the side of the steak rather than cutting the meat.

I bought this block knife set to replace my old one. It’s a great set and very sharp. Great price also it’s exactly like the picture.
