Un libro da avere nella propria libreria
Un libro ricco di emozioni. Un fotografo quasi mistico. Da non perdere per chi ama la vera fotografia.

This is a great little book by Andre Kertesz
This is a great little book by Andre Kertesz. I think the pages from his diary or note book are very interesting. I have never been disappointed with his photographs. This is a wonderful addition to the other books I have about him.

Disappointing
I was very excited to see this new book publishing Kertesz's late Paris work for the first time, and consequently snapped it up immediately. I have to say I am very disappointed in the book, as it is poorly produced and the layout and reproduction do not do the photographs any favours. The pages are mostly full bleeds which I never like in photography books and I'm not sure what printing process has been used, but the prints that appear in the book are nowhere near the quality they should be. The photographs appear flat, lifeless, lacking tonal range, and in some cases soft. I'm not sure that some of the photographs haven't been cropped. To be fair, Kertesz's return to Paris 30 years after his first visit does not appear to have produced anything like the quality of work he made in his youth, and I guess that is to be expected given his early output is arguably the greatest photography of the 20th century, but it would still have been nice to see this work presented in the best possible way. I am not familiar with Flammarion, the french publisher who produced this book, but at £25, one would have expected far more in the way of quality. I am afraid this book won't be wowing many Kertesz fans, this one included.
