Wormery
Had issues with our compost bin, because we back on to a stream the rats would always cue their way through it. Some rethink and changed for wormery which is positioned away from the stream and raised off the ground. Works great and unpleasant smells, just had to buy more worms. Would buy again.

Need to be careful when using side clips for the top
Arrived well packed with lots of info and instructions for use going forward.Users are advised to take care when using the top fasteners at the sides. I could see these could easily break. They did despite me taking full cognisance of the advisory note. Needs to be more robust design in my opinion. Wouldn't prevent me buying again tho

There are 2 sides to any product ....
I didn't buy our wormery via Amazon, but feel it needs a positive review to balance the scales.OK, so you do need to turn it out to get at the compost, using a large plastic sheet works well. It also keeps errant worms safe! Oddly enough, I do the same thing to access the compost in my compost bins.If used as per the instructions there should be no problems. Like anything that involves living animals, you do have a duty of care. We get lovely liquid fertilizer, works for any plants, suitably diluted. The liquid fertilizer collects in a separate chamber under the physical waste and is accessed by a tap ala water butts. Like many of those, popping it up on bricks or similar, though bases might be available now, helps to gain better access to the liquid content. The actual fertilizer is rich, crumbling and well enjoyed by our plants. Better for alkaline lovers than acid ones though. We put the better part of our kitchen waste into it, leaving extra room in our compost bins for the garden waste, which does include our poultry bedding.Don't just write this worm system off due to1bad review. Like anything gardening wise, you need patience and reading the instructions! We have had our wormery, identical to the one advertised, for heading on to 20 years and only twice have we had what I would describe as a problem and that was down to us and not to this system.I hope this redresses the scales somewhat. I'm sorry that the original reviewer has had such a bad experience. Had Original Wormery been contacted, perhaps the issues found could have been resolved.

... one of these for 2 years and it was great. I hardly got any escapee worms
I had one of these for 2 years and it was great. I hardly got any escapee worms, I got lots of great liquid compost. I gave it away when I moved house, and bought a new wormery that used the tray system, as I wanted to get away from the need to empty the bin annually. But I wish I had kept this one, I never achieved enough of a good seal between the trays, and the rain leaked in and in summer It got inhabited by flies and maggots. I am going back to this system next time

All the worms escaped within a week
Supposed to be escape proof for the worms, well I can confirm that is not so. The padded plastic which is on the inside of the lid was not in the correct place and there is a gap where the lid fastens, all the worms had escaped within a week. So very disappointed with this wormery. Just as well I have another different one that I have had for several years. Rosemary.

A Great Product
I didn’t buy my wormery from Amazon, which I have owned for more than 20 years, I use 2, one is full of live worms and the second is a store for last years compost, when it is low enough I simply scoop the top few inches from the active bin containing the worms and transfer them to the empty one, and alternate every year. These bins supply me with plenty of liquid plant food and the best organic compost available, the one thing users must ensure is that the bin doesn’t get too wet, if it does simply add some shredded newspaper. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and am only looking to replace the first purchase ( over 20 years ago) due to a small leak at the bottom resultin* in the loss of the liquid. plant food.
