This is a very well written book, as Ted Andrew's books are. They provide a great deal of explanation, details, and how-to instructions. This book provides lots of background information on the use of sound, in words and in music and how sound has related to healing for many years, much of which has become a lost art. Ted covers a lot of history, for credibility and for understanding the linear path to nowadays.If you think it is not logical that sounds can affect you, ask yourself how you feel when you listen to certain types of music. Try it. Does some music make you angry, some sad, some peaceful, and does some music make you feel love? How about words? Is there a word someone could call you to make your blood boil? Is there something nice someone said to you recently that made you feel like you could just melt? That's just to get you thinking. Now what if someone told you that you could maybe begin to reverse a health problem by playing a note that corresponds the the chakra area that has an energy blockage? Bull??? Worth a try?Ted goes all the way into details of 10 names of God from the Qabala and how to tone them properly. He explains which music notes influence and balance which chakras and a whole lot more. After reading this book, I now understand what is happening with my voice and why. There is a lot of metaphysical information found in this book as it relates to the use of sound that you will not normally find just anywhere. If you're looking for that kind of information, get the book.If you are interested in how animals might have messages for you, check out "Animal Speak" by Ted. I have also read several other books of his on the topics of angels and spirit guides, colors, and auras. They are all well written and provide a lot of information.

Picked this up for a friend he read another friends copy and really enjoyed it, but like a library book, it had to be returned. It was the original printing so the cover was different I did my research to confirm the same content and confirmed it was before purchasing.He flipped through after opening and confirmed the content and Thought there may be some new content. He had liked some of the diagram information which was why I searched for a copy. Thankfully all this content was preserved and it made the perfect gift!I can’t say I’ve read this as I purchased as a gift for someone who read it. He is very selective about the books he likes and recommends and this is 1 of them. If you’re into sound healing and frequencies etc this is a fantastic book.

This book is a must for me, I really love it, so much good info in a very accessible language, it's always a great pleasure to read it again. Anyone who believes like me in the power of the sound in out life must read this book. Thanks to the author for his beautiful work.

Reading this book changed my life. I have always been very deep into music, and even play guitar. This has given me a greater relationship with music and I am now using music for healing.

The author gives historical information on sound in ancient cultures as well as giving practical information on how to apply sound in your daily life. It was easy to read and enjoyable. His application was more in depth then I expected in regard to the information and yet kept everything easy to understand and use. It has been fun adding a few things to my daily routine.

I have been blessed with a passion for reading and learning for more than 7 decades. I love reading books on subjects from the scientific to the esoteric. I enjoy great literature along with action westerns and spy/assassin novels. This is why when I saw this 221-page soft cover book while browsing on Amazon (Sacred Sounds: Magic & Healing through words & music by Ted Andrews) I made a decision to purchase it.I found this book to be interesting and thought provoking because it explains in detail the many aspects of sound, from speaking, singling, prayers, mantras and storytelling. Further, it covers both the scientific and mystical esoteric mysteries of sound.This book is organized into two parts covering the following areas: “The science of sacred sound, the magic of music, the occult significance of speech, the mystical words of power, a history of mystical bards, the art of magical storytelling, the power of the poet-seekers and the techniques of bard healing.”Even though this book was published 16 years ago; nevertheless, I found the material helpful and relevant for today. This book has taken me months to read. I'm admittedly still not done with it... this is not a bad thing though. It's not the type of book you can just sit down and whiz through after a few days. Every page is so jam packed with information it takes some time to digest and totally absorb it all. Not to mention as you go through learning different concepts and techniques you want to experiment with them and try things out so it becomes this practice. Really great stuff. It has been an EXPERIENCE reading this book. Maybe i will finish it some day! lol

This is a wonderful short history of the healing practices of sound, song and language. In our world of constant manufactured noise, we need to remember the sacred nature of sound and its healing properties. A very informative and uplifting book. Empower yourself with this ancient knowledge!

Loved this book!!! It was filled with so many - ahhh, now I get it - moments.I will definately be reading this one many more times. It's perfect for Energyworkers who are also musicians.

I thought this book is so good I will have to keep it for reference. It has made me want to read more books by this author.

Zur Einführung in die Mannigfaltigkeit des Klanges und den Anwendungen liefert der Autoreine gute Basis.Er hätte diese Basis verbessern können, indem die Noten mit den Bezeichnungen für einen Laiendeutlicher herausgestellt hätte. Sein Vorschlag einer Stimmpfeife bringt nicht viel. Nachdem icheine Stimmpfeife gekauft habe gibt es darauf nur 4 Töne ohne Beschriftung. Eine Oktave hat 8.Wie finde ich die Bezeichnung zum Ton?
