I needed a new gate for my recently acquired allotment, and planned to make a 'rustic' one using branches and logs. However, attaching hinges to an uneven, rounded surface was going to be an issue - and, despite me being a veteran DIYer, I can never get my head around fitting hinges! But then I came across these, and realised they were the solution. Reversing the usual arrangement of having the ring in the fixed post, and bolting through the log instead, I could attach the flat peg plates to the post. The rings could then be adjusted to deal with any curves in the log stile.The hinges are very robust and well made, came quickly. Larger than I imagined (good), 12mm is the diameter of the bolt.Fitting them was actually much easier than I thought. I worried about getting the angles right for drilling the bolt holes in the log, but eventually realised it didnt need to be exact because the rings are essentially point pivots and two of them will always be in line (and I could adjust the position of the peg plates if required - but they were fine). Now the gate is complete and hung, it operates smoothly and I am extremely pleased with the end result.I used a 13mm wood bit to drill the bolt hole, and size 12 screws for the peg plate. Clearance between the edge of my gate and the fence post is about 40mm, so the gate can move through 180 degrees.

These are sturdy and well made. I bought two metal gates to fit between two large wooden gate posts. I drilled the gate frame to take the adjustable threaded bar (which is later cut to length) and with a laser line to make sure the gates were straight, it was a simple matter to screw the hooks to the gate posts.A bit of "tweaking" of the threaded bars to line up the gates exactly, then chop off the unwanted threaded bar and paint the whole lot black. Sorted!The hinges have now been on for several months without any issues or sagging etc.

Gr8 value item required for a specific outdoor job of hanging a heavier duty pedestrian gate from a large wooden post.Generally cheapest online at time for this item against equivalent products from other online sellers.Appears to be well made, sturdy and hardwearing; operating as intended to date.Recommended product.

Product was as expected, arrived in good condition and on time no problems, 4 stars as some of the galvanization had come off in places, but only a very small amount and no issues, Would buy again,

Nicely made and give the impression they will last 'for ever'.
