This monitor is intended to be used with a computer. If your computer has an extra HDMI port or VGA port to connect this monitor as a secondary monitor you can. The headset you use is typically connected to your computer, not your monitor

Can this be turned to portrait mode?

Yes, you will need a mount that will allow you to orient the monitor in portrait. From there, you will need to change the display settings on your PC or Mac. The included stand does not support portrait mode.
