As someone that grew up with the original Kenner line from the '80s, I am delighted to say that McFarlane's recreated 4-inch DC Super Powers Batman figure is an absolute masterpiece! This nostalgic gem is a delightful trip down memory lane for any longtime collector or fan.Having skipped previous waves, I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that McFarlane based this figure on the iconic Kenner Batman Super Powers figure rather than more recent comic versions. It was a brilliant move on their part. As someone who loved those original action figures during my childhood, I'm delighted to see the classic design revived with the utmost respect and attention to detail.The standout feature for me is undoubtedly the retro coloring. The makers really managed to capture the vibrant and vivid colors reminiscent of '80s action figures. Holding the figure in hand, instantly transported me back to my childhood.I couldn't help but notice the welcome addition of black shading to Batman's mask, which had been missing from the original figure. It adds a new level of comic accuracy to the figure, making it feel like it was plucked right out of the classic panels from the Bronze Age era.With previous waves the scaling didn't match the original Super Powers figures from the 1980s. A flaw they've rectified with this figure. Hopefully this is an indicator that they will continue to make future waves in scale with the Kenner line. Despite its small scale, it manages to be eye-catching and commanding in its presence.The articulation might put off some collectors that like dynamic posing. And I do think that had McFarlane added extra articulation (like Mattel did with their retro He-Man figures), the Super Powers line could very well be once again the definitive DC figure line. And while it may lack some articulation, the quality of the plastic feels better than the larger scale McFarlane figures I own and it more than compensates with its gorgeous design. This figure has quickly become my favourite Batman figure in my collection, just as the original was during my childhood.In conclusion, McFarlane's 4-inch DC Super Powers Batman figure is a dream come true for any fan of the original Kenner line. It's a big improvement on earlier McFarlane waves, capturing all the nostalgia of the '80s with its faithful design, retro colouring, and the addition of black shading on Batman's mask. This figure is the epitome of how to do nostalgia right. If you only ever buy just one Batman figure in your life, let it be this one.Highly recommended!
