Fantastic all rounder.
I was very sceptical about buying a zoom eyepiece, as most reviews on them seem to look down on them. But I chanced it, and now it's all I use. By the time you've messed around changing lenses to get a closer look, you've lost your image. I only have an 8" Dobsonian, but for that it's brilliant. I'd recommend this to anyone, just get out in the garden with this and a decent telescope for hour of fun. Save yourself loads of money on buying more than you need. It's well made, gives a nice clear image, is smooth in transition from 24mm into 8mm and doesn't go out of focus.

Very easy to get correct stable magnification for each celestial target
A brilliant zoom lens. I thought that this was indulgence, but having seen zoom eyepieces praised on The Sky at Night, I felt happier. This Celestron version is simple to use. No focus "tweeks" required as you zoom in. Rather than try different eyepieces until resolution falls off, you can easily finds what is best for your celestial target. Also good at a star party, when you tell them to just twist that barrel ! A little expensive, but you get what you pay for.

8-24, not 28-24
Fortunately, Celestron's information is more accurate than Amazon's. This eyepiece does zoom between 8 and 24 mm and it does do what is says on the box. At 8mm with my Nexstar-8SE scope I get a magnification of 254 and a measured field width of 20 minutes. At the minimum magnification of about 85, the field width only grows to 31 minutes because the angle of view subtended to the eye reduces. This compares with the 80 magnification and 40 minutes with the Celestron standard 25 mm non-zoom Plossl eyepiece. So it works quite well at the maximum magnification, not quite so well at the minimum, when as well as giving a more restricted field of view than the 25 mm eyepiece, I feel star brightness is slightly less. It doesn't make the 25 mm eyepiece redundant. Where it does score is in looking for objects on the limit of visibility. You can see them grow and shrink as you zoom in and out. The general optical quality is reasonable. Amazon supplied the eyepiece with their usual efficiency. One of the UK dealers had kept me waiting for several weeks and eventually admitted that they didn't know when I would get it.

Very Versatile
This zoom eyepiece is very versatile, much easier than swapping eyepieces around when having a quick look around the night sky. What isn't immediately obvious to people is the fact that if you remove the rubber eyecup (it is made to be easily removed) there is a thread which allows a T2 camera adapter to be fitted. Works brilliantly and allows you to take some great shots. (Much cheaper than a high powered telephoto camera lens!) Be aware though that your photos will be laterally inverted, no problem to flip though, using the appropriate software for your photo editing. All in all, this zoom eyepiece is a well made, quality accessory for your telescope which you will find very useful.

Awesome eye piece.
Arrived today and first impressions were awesome. Good quality build. Also love the fact I can fit my T2 mount on it which I didn't know about when first ordering. Even better now I know this. Can't wait for the sun to set and stars to show up. Well worth the price. 10-10.

Take the eye shield off to use as a projection eyepiece
Great for Solar work and for Lunar composites (using on an Altair Starwave 80ED for lunar and a Celestron SE6 for Solar. As others have noticed it lacks a stop on the focal lengths, but that is not too serious if you take all shots at one set magnification. Great as well for zooming in on double stars Alberio is stunning. For the price, this is a good optic, there are better, but not at this price point.

My review
Very good

A really useful addition to my telescope
Really useful item. It allows you to find objects in the sky when zoomed out and then zoom in for more detail once you’ve found what you’re looking for. The only downside seems to be that my existing filters don’t fit.

I first could not achieve focus with the scope I have. This is probably because of the nature of Newtonian reflectors. However, with a zero-profile adaptor, I was finally able to achieve focus. It may also help to use an adaptor that is recessed (negative profile). The zoom feature is great, but image quality deteriorates rapidly at higher magnifications. Still, it is convenient to have the zoom feature, where you don't have to change eyepieces and re-focus while holding the telescope steady in the meantime. The build quality is excellent, although a bit on the expensive side. Recommended, if you have the right eyepiece adaptor (or scope).

Save trying to find eyepieces in the dark at the scope. Very useful and looks well made. Nice views at all magnifications. Would recommend as the minimum for the amateur astronomer that does not want to spend a lot of money.

Great eyepiece to have when you feel like 'surfing the sky'. The 24 mm focal length is nice in viewing the 'bigger picture'. Not quite the 'wide angle' view of my 40 mm plossl, but definitely effective for viewing smaller star clusters. Being able to 'infinitely adjust' the focal length down to 8 mm is considerably easier than changing oculars and having to re-focus, making sure the object being viewed was solidly in the middle of the field of view before zooming in, of course. Images were sharp at the high magnification as well, something I was pleasingly surprised to find. Wish my zoom microscope was as effective. It's a great eyepiece for casual sky viewing with a Newtonian scope; the 'only lens you need' for the most part. The almost-par zoom capability meant little re-focusing adjustment between low (24 mm) and high (8 mm) magnification, so I could quickly explore objects of interest without a lot of need for adjustment. Worked well with the 2X Barlow lens as well, although the light reduction at that magnification with dim objects was very noticeable. Zoom action is a bit stiff; my hope is it's just a built-in 'tightness' as opposed to a lubricant which may become stiffer with winter temperatures. There were no 'click stops' for separate focal lengths, just markings on the outer barrel . . . which isn't a big deal, just an observation. Zooming was always smooth but tight. Solid mechanical arrangement. As is typical for zoom lenses the effective aperture decrease at the higher magnification (8 mm) results in a noticeable dimmng. It was necessary to increase the focal length a bit to be able to still discern a dim spiral nebula in deep space. Viewing the moon was a delight, however, as that is normally so bright a neutral density or double-polarizing filter is necessary to reduce the intensity. Images remained sharp at all focal lengths. Great addition to my accessories . . . but too long to fit into the space I have left in my larger accessories kit. However, don't usually take that with me unless I'm planning a long observation session.

Si bien su precio es elevado, las prestaciones son excelentes. Gracias al zoom evitas el engorroso cambio de oculares durante la observación. Muy recomendable.
