lots of options, seems fairly accurate
This is a fantastic little meter. It seems fairly accurate, as shown in the picture it is showing 816 lumens (81.6 x10), and I did the hold test while holding it directly beneath a lamp with 4 x 200 lumens bulbs in it. They may be producing slightly more light than rated, or there may have been a small reflection of light back from the chrome base of the light housing. Seems pretty close. There are minimum and maximum readings, and as shown in the picture, a hold function. The hold is particularly useful if you need to measure something that's outside of your view of the meter at the same time as the reading (as in my case, where I was holding it above my head to get the reading). There are numerous other functions on the meter, but unfortunately the manual for it is quite minimal, and I am having a bit of a hard time determining the order of functions and how to set them. That is certainly one improvement that could be made with this, and the only reason I dropped it from a 5 star rating to a 4 star rating.

Very nice Lumen Meter, not especially useful for photography
This is a very nice meter for measuring Lumens, lots of functions and it comes in a nice case to protect it.However when it mentions its uses, I do not find it much use for photography. I have been a photographer for 40 years and if I want a light meter, I want to be able to set some parameters in it, like ISO, shutter speed and or an f-stop as the goal is for it to tell you that this scene is 1/250 at F8 at ISO 100 or that the shadow are is F2.8 where the sunny are is F8.This is just giving you the amount of light falling on a surface and then you will need to do a lot of conversion to get to what you need. Perhaps for high-end motion picture it is useful, but I can not speak to that.I Can say that if you just want to measure Lumens for whatever purpose you have this is a very nice unit, just not useful for my purposes.Basically, this is a highly technical Lumen meter. If you need such a thing, then my opinion is that it would be a good choice.

Accurate Light Reading
A nicely sized unit. No calibration required. Simply remove the protective cap from the light sensor then get your Lux reading. There are other readouts but are pretty useless besides the standard Lux reading.I was curious how your typical smart phone light meter app compared to this actual Lux meter. For one reading the Light Meter app stated 219 Lux whereas the Lux Meter stated 31 Lux. Even after adjusting the Ligth Meter app with a divisor of 10 adjusting the lighting still produced way off numbers. In short, the light meter apps are useless compared to this actual Digital Lux Meter.if you want an accurate reading of the light levels then get this meter and skip the phone app.

For testing
I see alot of lights and headlights come thru my shop on a daily basisThis tool allows me to see if the light is performing as claimed, so i know if i can recommend that light to others. (among other factors)Im not a pro at light or video, so my results arent proof that something is perfect, but when i review lights now I can see if they perform as claimed as well as just have a general idea of one product versus another.Overall nice affordable tool, with a case (love it) that i can do my own detective work on lights with.

You get what you paid for... not much!
This unit did not arrive with the CD and there are no references to how to obtain the software, nor is the software even mentioned in the very poor, basic documentation!Without the software, which appears to be impossible to find, this unit is useless as a data logging light meter!I will be returning this unit! :(
