When Virgin upgraded me to a new faster hub (Dec 2017), I found the ethernet on my pc (dating from 2012) was not compatible with the hub, so a quick solution was to use wifi instead of the ethernet connection, by buying this Newterk wifi adapter. It does the job very well.It came with a mini CD, but this would not play in my pc's DVD/CD drive, so I just went straight to plug-and-play (I'm on Windows 10). At first nothing appeared to be happening, but then I realised I had to click on the wifi icon which appeared on the right of the taskbar (bottom right of screen, near the time and date) and hey presto, I could connect! So in my case the CD was not needed.

Fantastic Wifi adapter.I've done several speedtests and included what a typical result is for my direct connected vs wifi computer.. Almost no difference.Test was done using a Cat6 for comparisson and the router was about 3metres away behind a big tv for wifi on 5g signal.Wifi technology has really come a long way. There's almost no difference between wifi and ethernet connections unless your wifi is very congested but with 5G signal, that's much less of a problem.

Bought this to upgrade the wifi on my old laptop. Gave me better signal range and speed across my house. Its a little large with its antenna, but then you get better quality because it is an external antenna rather than being blocked by the shell of a laptop. Very easy to set up and use.

purchased on 26.12.2017. I have had excellent customer relationship email communication with Anita from newterk via the email address: [email protected] . During these communications, I told Anita that i was bothered by the fact that the manufacturing company does not have a company website: "I was nervous after purchase when I realised there was no manufacturer website to seek support for the product. I almost decided to return the product because of no supporting website ." . - For me, as a data specialist, it is frightening to be installing product softwares from unknown companies with no presence other then email address. Anita told me their website is under construction.Nevertheless, having had a lot of email communication with Anita, I downloaded the driver and started using the product from 08.01.2018. (Anita even wanted to compensate me with 5 euro for getting "nervous feeling"). Product stopped working on 13.01.2018. Anita sends me another product by post that arrives on 19.01.2018 and it stops working on 21.0.2018.I am not impressed that the product stops working after a few days. The icon for the item on the desktop appears with the message: “no RTL818x”I notice that the USB hardware uses a Realtek utility: Realtek 8812BU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC Wi-FiDoes the product stop becuase it is not correctly licensed from Realtek? I am guessing that it is not correctly licensed.I have moved on to purchase a branded product (not much more expensive then Newterk) which is working well: NETGEAR A6210-100PES AC1200 802.11ac Dual Band (300/867 Mbps) High Gain Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter.This review is done to protect consumers and for manufacterers to build quality products - not rip consumers off with unlicensed software to drive their hardware. Often consumers write reviews immediately after purchase and after the first trial (when product works very well) without the product going through a full and thorough test for at least a week - please wait! So other consumers are protected.

Didn’t want to run a cable through walls and around rooms which seemed a lot of work as I was only moving my desktop from one room to another and couldn’t move the router so I thought I would try this WiFi adapter it was easy to set up and is working well have noticed no difference to speed as it was when it use to be hard wired 100% satisfied delivery was within stated time of arrival 👍👍

Very good performance. I installed it to my old 2007 PC, now it is running on 5G - almost twice as fast as it used to on the old wireless adapter, also more reliable. Tests show speed from my Router out to my PC device almost as fast as BT Exchange to Router. Would recommend.

unusable after 1 month - Connection drops out when transferring large files over WIFI to NAS.USB Connection to PC is not stable and if the antenna is touched it will disconnect. I currently have it at angle and wedged against a wall to keep the USB pins in contact.

Driver install was easy and simple, but it stopped working after about an hour. Not happy, would have been a good adapter otherwise.
