i have a 27" benq 1080p monitor and the width are the same. would this feel like a downgrade even though its ultrawide? im on the fence

The LG monitor ultra wide is a lot shallower, so you will not seem to have the same area over the screen you have now. I have the 29'' and I would go for that or the 34'' the 25'' would be too small IMHO. The screen resolution is better than you have, so that will be an upgrade. It does depend on what you will use it for. Side by side documents, films and gaming, its excellent. And it looks very smart too. I do not use it for games, but am very pleased with it. I recommend using the display port option to connect if you can, you will need to buy a lead, fiver from amazon. If you have windows 10 you may need to search google as it does not nativly scale to 21.9 and some apps will appear fuzzy. I solved it in 10 minutes, with Windows 10 DPI fix app ( free ) Not exactly the same monitors but will make your mind up either way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r84YiYT_0w

can this screen be used with a mount arm?

Yes it has the standard 4 mount screw holes on the back. and the stand is removable too. It's quite a heavy monitor so chose a stronger mount arm (hold up to 32" monitors for instance)

Does it work with MacBook Air 2013?

Yes. I don't see why not. I have two of these terrific monitors connected to tiny 11" MacBook Airs (6,1 and 7,1 – The older one is from 2013) and they play very happily together. I did need to get a high resolution 4K mini DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor though (the first one I bought was cheap and lower res and gave a cruddy pixillated image). :-)
