Bright photos, clear text and child friendly layout, this book is adored by a primary 3 girl who lives and breathes mini-beasts. Although older age range books are enjoyed, this one is a firm favourite. The superb enlarged colour photos in all their splendid detail are the best part, then quick reference text.This book has a proper adult reference layout to allow the use of index, glossary etc, the pages are numbered too. It definitely has a positive contribution and loved place in our home library and will do for some years. I just wish there was a complete set available, I would have bought it.

My 5 year old loves this book. Lovely big clear photos of the minibeasts you would find in a UK garden and just the right amount of information to go with them, plus suggested activities to help you study the creatures. Really good book.

Book look nice, hope my nephew will like it

As with the other 2 books in this range I've bought I think they're great for nursery children, perhaps if you run a town nursery they'd be unsuitable but where we live they're perfect to take oudoors when we're minibeast hunting with our magnifying glass, we look under big logs, stones and outdoor toys etc. It's definately a boy thing with my experience of nursery work and my own son who was always taking my kitchen storage containers away to make bug homes and piercing the lids to make air holes before I could stop him!
