Swan Products ELMRV58050 Element RV & Marine Camping and Boating Water Hose 50' x 5/8", White

Usually use a short 10 foot (Camco) hose that I bought from WalMart to fill my water tank in my van, and it adds no plastic taste to the water. Sometimes I cannot get that close to the water faucet so I bought this 50 foot hose for those occasions. Finally used it (6 months later) and the water tastes like plastic. I used the hose for a week to wash dishes and hose off and it still produces a plastic/vinyl taste to the water. Yes- I put it through a filter - but not a carbon filter....This hose not acceptable for drinking quality. Also kinks very easily, so not good as general purpose garden hose.

Maybe I have a defective hose but I cannot get the rubber/plastic taste out of the water that comes through this hose. I have used it at 4 different campsites across 4 States and the taste is the same nasty rubbery taste. This one is going in the trash after only 3 weeks of use. I am using it with a travel trailer and it was brand new when I got it.

I purchased this hose and received it on 10/01/17. Unfortunately for me, I did not use it until 11/03/17. When I hooked the hose up I started to straighten the hose out when the female fitting pulled completely out of the hose. I discovered that the fitting had not been crimped properly. I then checked the male fitting and same thing, it pulled right out with hardly any effort. I cannot return the hose because I'm outside of the return window. I can fix the hose with clamps, but its not something I shuld have to be worried about. I'm just glad we weren't at the camp ground before discovering this.

We never even got to use it, the little ring that screws on broke off the first time we went to use it. We bought it when we bought our camper and unfortunately for us it was more than 30 days before we were able to go actually go camping. I called to get a replacement and they told us "their policy is 30 days" so you are just out the money.

Kinker! I have two other same brand hoses I use for watering that do not have this issue. They are a little more firm. This hose I purchased links all the way! I had to stretch it before I could use it and that is too much extra work. I assume they are being made with less quality materials. The connectors are also different. I hope they honor my return without the prepaid label and restocking fees. Will never order from this company again.

its really really stiff and keeps a memory , so when trying to unroll and or to roll up the hose at anything below 55 degrees fahrenheit give up if its helpless it will just kink and bend over at the kink, can not get it wrap up nicely or stretch out nicely always tripping over it because it keeps it memory of the coils and wont lay flat around camper

In 2 weeks, it would have been a year. As another reviewer pointed out, constantly drips... even after replacing washers. If that was it, it would have been 4 stars. Giving it 1 star because the outer layer cracked wide open. Never seen that before with a hose... and had never encountered a hose that didn't last a year.

I bought this hose for use with our RV. This hose is very light weight, I do not believe it would handle very much pressure. The hose kinks very easy, and we find it difficult to coil up without getting a kink in it when we're ready to pack up and go. I have another drinking water safe hose that I've had for years that is a much better hose, and we use it unless the water connection is too far, then we have to use this one also. We don't use it unless we have to because it is so prone to kinking that it takes extra time and effort to coil or uncoil it without kinking. I always use a pressure regulator at the campground end as I'm afarid this hose will burst if there is too much water pressure. I would not buy another one of these hoses, but would look for something of better quality.

Hose works for showers and dishes but I would not call it a “drinking water hose”. There’s no way around the rubber/plastic taste from the water. I would recommend using a pressure regulator at the tap before the hose as it is thin. Plus side it is light and easy to pack. We Cary a water jug for coffee and bottled water for drinking.
