Just another modelling book?
This is not a model railway book you would think of owning, however having seen a friends copy, I decided that I wanted one for myself as a reference point, recently it has come to my attention that modellers are now beginning to cross over from other modelling areas not only to model railways but other parts of the modelling hobby as well, if you want to get some idea of how other area of modelling get some superb results, this has to be on your Christmas list, you will not be disappointed.

Book by a real craftsman
Per Olav Lund is really a master diorama craftsman. The book gives excellent help with creating his brilliant effects. The featured dioramas are mostly war based which was a little disappointing as that's not my thing but the skill is breathtaking.

This is a beautifully photographed book
This is a beautifully photographed book. It's inspirational.....what can be achieved with a basic modeller's kit. However, the clue is in the title...it's a Master's Collection, and not for the complete beginner. Some techniques are show, but much is assumed, so being given the 'ingredients' of a project isn't helpful unless you're well aquainted with that procedure. But a wonderful reference book for your library! You'll keep looking at it and marvelling!

if you want a book that it useful to take you to the next step in modelling ...
What a book! The detail in the modelling is superb. While there are some instructions on how to do some of the construction and detailing used in the creation of the dioramas, it doesn't cover everything that can be seen in the dioramas. If you want inspiration then this is the book you need, if you want a book that it useful to take you to the next step in modelling then yes this is the one. If you want a book that covers the basics then you'll need to go elsewhere. But if you want simply to look at dioramas created by a Master of his craft then this is definately the book for you. The drama that is in "Seenot" and the humour in "Dog Day Afternoon" is more than worth the price of the book.
