I generally don't like my tea or coffee to be cold, unless it's meant to be that way. So I usually drink my hot tea or coffee quickly to avoid that tepid nonsense. The Ember Mug/Tumbler is a complete game changer. I can now drink slowly because my tea/coffee will still be hot hours later. What I like best: 1. I can choose the temp I prefer, all the way up to 145°F and it will maintain this for 1 1/2 hrs for the mug and 3 hrs for the tumbler (full charge). 2. It comes with the charger so I can keep it on the base and it will keep it on and warm for longer than the above. Have one at work and this is soo nice on the busy days when time goes fast and attention is on anything but drinking...grab your cup and your tea/coffee is still warm. Or you have to go to a meeting and your cup is fully charged and ready for that mostly useless, overlong meeting. 3. The heater turns on when the beverage is poured in and off when it senses nothing in the cup. 4. There is a phone app for settings, choose your favorite temps for different beverages. But an app isn't required, will automatically be 145°F (I think?) What I don't like: 1. The mug has only 90min for keeping your drink warm. The tumbler is twice as long. 2. The company says the app isn't needed, but occasionally the tumbler doesn't sense the drink and won't turn the heater on so I have to use the app even after pressing the button. This happens with the tumbler most often versus the mug. 3. Be careful the cup doesn't get turned on if you're transporting it in a bag or something. Like the button on the bottom got pushed or something? But it also senses movement to turn on and maybe shake my work too much? I take my office one home to wash well on the weekends and there's been several times the heater was on when I took it from my bag. Overall: Love it...just honestly love it. I work in a cold building and having a warm drink any time without having to use additional items is amazing. After using this for 6months, when using my regular coffee cups, I think, "uggghh, I don't wannnaaa!" Buy this. If you like warm/hot drinks regularly, buy this. It really is worth it.

I got an ember mug way back when they only did 10oz versions. I found that to be way too small...then I got the 14oz. Good, but I had some gripes. I couldn't take it with me on the go, and it couldn't fit in cup holders with the handle. When I saw the 16oz tumbler I immediately fell in love. The handle is a great touch, the lid locks in place well, and it fits the cup holder! this thing is awesome. The only complaint I have is that it is harder to clean than previous mugs. Two reasons for this: 1) it's deeper than a normal ember mug. That is pretty obvious from the photos but definitely something to consider especially if you have big hands like me. it's hard to get a sponge in there, and brushes just do not do the trick. 2) it's a metal material instead of the enamel that's used in other ember mugs. in other mugs you technically don't really have to wash them with soap. You can really just rinse them out unless stuff is dried, and in that case you could theoretically just run hot water over it until it's clean. I do use soap of course, but just a consideration that the non-stick surface of the OG ember mugs was EASY to clean. This metal is much harder. The coffee sticks to it like glue and so you HAVE to get something slightly abrasive into the bottom of the mug....which is harder for reason 1 I mentioned. Even with that, ember mugs are amazing. Are they expensive? YES. Are they a necessity? NO. Do I care? Also No. I love these mugs. I can't chug coffee like others and want to sip it over an hour, but if the coffee cools down I find it totally revolting. Dialing in your coffee to a goldilocks temperature and being able to enjoy it for HOURS if you choose is a decadent luxury.

Washed it right out of the box with a sponge and it looks like this after the first wash. Scratches too easily.
