My Other Half (Halal Love)

I loved everything about this book. I was looking for more halal love stories that don't have any haram and is a realistic book about love in Islam. This captured every part of it. I hope she will make a part 2 on this, or make other books similar to this one.

I gave it to someone as I gift but while they were reading it so manyy pages just started coming outt. I recommend not buying it and reading on kindle. As muxh as I loved the books there’s no point in owning a defective book. Really sadd.

I get the concept and it had potential but this unfortunately was a hard read. Towards the last quarter it became interesting but even though the execution wasn’t the greatest.I commend the attempt at trying to integrate islamic values into a YA novel.

I wanted to like this novel because the premise is intriguing, but I could not get past the 3rd chapter. It was hard to read and awkwardly written, and it felt like one of my high school students wrote it. The author shows potential so I’m going to give some constructive feedback from what I did read:1. Get an editor and if you have one, fire them and hire a professional. It’s just weird when you call your protagonists “the designer” or “the thirty five year old man.” I’ve literally never seen this done before and I’m an avid reader.2. Make sure what your writing makes sense. Why did the female protagonist go all the way to the mall just for a coffee when she was short on time? I live in Houston. There are a ton of coffee shops she could have quickly pulled into before work. There are a ton of drive thrus too. Why would the male protagonist wait until the day school starts to go shopping for school supplies for his kid? I’m not a parent and even I know better. And even if he did do that, why would he go to a mall? Stores aren’t even open before school starts. Why not Walmart?3. The daughter was 6 years old and she sounds more like a 4 year old. 6 year olds wouldn’t confuse “fun” and “funny” unless English isn’t their first language.Besides these, there were grammatical errors, misspellings, clunky dialogue, and unlikeable characters. Some authors with well written fiction featuring Muslim characters are Fatima Bala, Lyndell Williams, and Umm Juwariyyah.

This book was so good! I really enjoy my reading. It's actually weird to say that, but I really love Muslim representation on books, I'm actually not a Muslim person but I think it's a beautiful religion and a love to learn about it with a book who draws a life of a Muslim (idk if its clear lol). I didn't know how was the marriage of Muslim in detail before reading this book it's been really interesting to know about it! And I love North Africain representationHayat is so cute, she is a so relatable character, I really love her relationship with her father actually (#daddyissues) She is a character very normal I want to say, like she had a normal job with normal hobbies it's been fun to read a books who really fit the reality like it would be the story of my neighbour.Anas is a real bookboyfriend, I really like the part who explains this faith it's also really relatable. He does his best for not recreating the mistake his parents make when he raises his and omg that was the best point about him!

I discovered this book through tiktok and am glad that I did.It is very well written, Allahumma barik and I enjoyed every bit of it! <3Looking forward to reading your next Novel/Book, Insha'Allah!
