I get acid reflux. I find chewing gum is a non-invasive, drug free way of managing the symptoms to some extent. However, I worry about swallowing too much plastic from regular gum. I was pleasantly surprised at how gum-like this stuff is. It’s firmer than regular gum and a little more abrasive than regular gum so a little more care is needed but for the potential health advantages I think I’ll stick with it. Apparently there is some evidence that there are medicinal benefits to chewing mastiha so that’s good. We will see. It’s probably a bit more expensive than regular gum but I’ve noticed that I don’t need many tears to get a gum-sized piece to chew on so I think the hundred grams should last. I might even experiment with flavouring it with a sweetener and perhaps a drop of orange or peppermint essential oil. The pine-like flavour it has is not unpleasant.

Has a refreshing pine flavour and and can stays for about 2 hours. Might not be everyones favourite i must say, but personally i love it

I did not find this resin particularly fragrant. Pity, as Mastic gum usually produces a gentle yet lingering fragrance that impregnates rooms for days with one burn.

Dispatched from Greece and I had to pay £20 on delivery. So even though the stuff is OK, the total cost is ridiculous.

This mastic gum is contained in a tightly sealed foil packet. The pieces vary in size medium to small, lots of them. The colour as it should be - pale, creamy white. Have no complaints about the quality of this gum, but, as with other gums I have tried, I always get a headache after chewing, this being one of the side effects I believe. I don't think you could get a better quality than this, it is easy to grind into a powder if you so wish. Delivery was quick (3 days coming from Greece). However, having praised the quality of this gum, I don't think I shall be using any more because of the bad headaches mastic gum gives me.

Regular chewing gum is a single use plastic and doesn't biodegrade so I was searching for a natural biodegradable alternative as I am an avid gum chewer. And I am happy to say I have found just the alternative I was looking for. This mastic gum has a pleasant pine aroma and flavour, it removes plaque from the teeth better than standard gum and I can chew knowing I'm not putting more single use plastic out into the world. I'll be buying a big bag next time as this stuff is going to be my go to chew from now on.

Sehr gutes Mastic Gum für den Preis, hat am Anfang einen pulveriges, mehliges Gefühl im Mund und ist sehr bröselig, dann muss man einfach weiterkauen bis er eine homogene Masse wird und den Mund kurz ausspülen. Sobald man das gemacht hat ist es der perfekte ultraharte Kaugummi mit leicht harzigem Nadelbaum Geschmack, welchen ich ganz lecker finde.

Wer eine Alternative zu Plastikkaugummi sucht, kommt an Mastix nicht vorbei: absolut natürlich, und das zuendegekaute Harz kann man bedenkenlos in die Natur spucken - oder auf das heiße Ofenrohr oder die Kochplatte des Holzofens legen, dann beduftet das Harz noch den Raum (vergleichbar mit Weihrauch). -- Es wird ja auch Weihrauch zum Kauen angeboten. Maxtix-Harz hat (zumindest nach meinen Vergleichen mit Kau-Weihrauch) den großen Vorteil, daß es im Mund durch die Wärme und den Kauvorgang stets "zusammenbleibt", ein nicht-krümelndes festes Bällchen, wie man es vom Plastikkaugummi kennt. Die Konsistenz des Bällchens im Mund ist etwas härter und zäher als beim Plastikkaugummi. Der Geschmack ist viel leichter, weniger stark als beim Plastikkaugummi, und zwar leicht harzig (erinnert an den Harz-Anteil des Redsina-Weins). Die Zähne werden durch das Kauen glatt und sauber. Der Geschmack ändert sich auch nach Stunden Kauens nicht. Lediglich die Konsistenz wird mit der Dauer des Kauens - und zwar etwa nach 1,5 Stunden - gering rauher. Man muß etwas vorsichtig kauen, damit der Mund und die Zunge sich nicht wund anfühlen. Falls es sich wund anfühlt, endet dieses Gefühl sofort nach Ausspucken und dem nächsten Essen oder Trinken. - Die Mastix-Herstellung ist sehr aufwendig, daher können wir über die günstigen Preise (zu meinem Kauf-Zeitpunkt 28,25 Euro pro 150g) sehr dankbar sein. Außerdem hält eine solche Tüte extrem lang: man nimmt für einmal Kauen etwa 4 bis 5 "Tränen", um sie im Mund dann zu einem Bällchen zusammenzufügen. - Diese Vorteile gegenüber erdölbasiertem, umweltbelastendem (und durch Zuckerersatzstoffe und Farbstoffe wie Titanweiß u. U. gesundheitsbelastendem) Normal-Plastikkaugummi wägen auch den langen Transportweg (aus Griechenland) auf.
