I do a lot of salt water fishing from jetties. This gaff is exactly what I need so I don’t have to climb down on the slippery rocks to retrieve a fish. It’s definitely strong enough to handle a heavy fish and extends long enough to get down where I need it.

Nice looking gaff! Great price! Feels moderately strong, I will know if it holds up if I can ever catch a big fish! It feels great and the locks feel strong. I wish the hook was slightly larger and more of a circle shape will help stick it better. Still, feels good and I feel it will hold up well to <40lb fishies, feels ore stiff and strong than my old bamboo stick. This gaff is probably more well suited for use on a kayak or pwc, but I'm using it on a boat and it saves space! Nice telescopic pole makes it easier and safer to stow.Looks fantastic and well made, can't beat the price! Good stuff!

Original review: (This is a good quality product, but it is light-duty to medium-duty at best. If you are fishing from your dingy no problem, but don't buy this one for lifting those marlins into your chartered fishing boat.)UPDATE: After the first tiny bit of lateral pressure was put on the handle, it failed and bent in half. The metal of the pole/handle is even thinner than it appears to be. I'm not sure what this could be used for successfully in the real world. The hook itself is beefy, and I've attached it to my own wooden handle. If you buy it, you will too.
