There is something scarier than giant bird things from hell
Wither (the 300-year-old witch we first met in Wither) is back and she's pretty grumpy. Okay, there's more to it than that, but that is what kind of gets the ball rolling. She escaped her previous host and has found a new one who will not fight her. All the usual suspects are back: Wendy, Alex, Karen, and Abby, along with a couple of new ones, like Karen's baby Hannah and Gina this kind of uber-skank girl who is possessed by Wither and gets this "Dark Willow" thing going with the black veins and stuff. This book was a fast and fun read. Even if you haven't read Wither, you won't be lost for long, though I do recommend reading Wither first.

Passarella's Best Yet
Wither's Legacy is Passarella's best book yet! It is the third installment of a series (which he says he may continue - I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed) and I would recommend you read the other 2 novels first (Wither and Wither's Rain). However, reading the other two novels is not necessary to understand this novel. Passarella artfully weaves in the back-story from the other novels without boring readers already familiar with it.Wendy Ward, a powerful witch, has incurred great personal loss due to her conflicts with Wither, and evil being that corrupt humans. Thinking she has finally defeated Wither's evil for good, Wendy attempts to escape from her past. Little does she know that Wither has cursed her and an unknown evil being is coming to kill Wendy.Wendy must now learn what this evil is while learning what Wither's ultimate plans had been for Wendy, Hannah, Abby and Kayla. This book will keep you hooked until the very last page. I found myself reading this any chance I got - lunch breaks, after I got home clear through the time I reluctantly turned out the lights to go to sleep.

Fun witching despite minor problems
While not one of the best books that I've read, Wither was still on the good side. It's a enjoyable read. The story focuses on the events occurring in the small town of Windale, Massachusetts. Three witches are being reincarnated and are wrecking havoc in the process. The story was good and most of the characters were portrayed in enough depth as to be believable. However there were a few things that I didn't like. The story jumped around in time at a few spots; one of the main characters was in class in the middle of the day, it then jumps to someone else at night (no problem yet), and then it jumps back to the first character just getting out of class (problem now). START SPOILER WARNING The other thing was with that you find out the witches come out of this hibernation state once every hundred years and that they need a new body every five hundred years, but why? No valid reason is ever given. It's just a convenient plot device that rings as being unauthentic. END SPOILER WARNINGDespite those two problems though, I found the book enjoyable and fun. It's probably more appropriate as a movie though and not as a book. Curiously the copy that I have says that it will soon be a "major motion picture from Columbia Pictures" but searches on Internet Movie Database come up blank.

W-O-W!
Windale, Massachusetts has a heritage of witches. Three evil women were accused of witch craft and hanged over three hundred years ago. However, Wither, Rebecca, and Sarah did not die. Now, they are little more than monsters with a caretaker who is more of a slave to them. He must feed them and then dispose of the remains. It used to be cattle. Now they mainly feed off the college students who dwell in town.THIS Halloween, the three witches plan to drain the life force of three women, so they may "live" again. Wendy is a college student who dabbles in white magic. Karen is a single, pregnant professor. Abby is an eight year old who stumbles across the graves of the three witches. The circle is cast. The battle begins.***In a word, "WOW!" I wish I could make all horror fans go purchase this one! It's hard to believe this is J.G. Passarella's first novel. From page one chills went down my spine. I never put the book down. A definate "Keeper" to be read many times in the future. It is a dark, irresistible, and demonic story to keep you up at night!***

Loved it...BUT...
I read this novel when it was first released back in 1999 and loved it. When I found out that it had since evolved into a trilogy I wanted to read it again and purchased the Kindle version. It's still a great novel and if you like supernatural horror, I would definitely recommend it. However, do yourself a favor and try to get the paperback edition. The Kindle version has an unbearable amount of typos and mispunctuations that will drive you nuts.

Wicked Read
When university student Wendy Ward, dabbles in some harmless white magic, she inadvertantly channels an old evil which has lived in her New England college town for over three hundred years. Through a series of unrelenting dreams, Wendy, her English comp. professor, Karen Glazer, and eight-year-old, Abby MacNeil parallel the lives of three women of the late 18th century--three women who were accused and executed as witches. As the town prepares for its annual Hallowe'en parade and celebration, the witches reawaken and pass from the realm of dreams to a dark and horrific reality. The three channelers realize their very lives and the very life of the town are at stake and that something more than a little white magic must be utilized to rid the town of the curse of the three witches. In spite of the predictability of the ending and the rather disgusting (almost comedic) mental apparition the description of the witches fixes in the mind of the reader, I still enjoyed this fast-paced, easy-to-read horror offering. I recommend it to those who enjoy a light, fun read with no ambiguous symbolism or hidden messages. Not on the Stephen King level of good versus evil.

Good book with protective cover
Good book with protective cover. However I would describe the condition as 'good' not 'very good' as the pages are considerably yellowed with age and the whole book is a bit tatty looking!
