Zaret Shoulder Rest for Violin or Viola Medium

I've tried so many shoulder rests and the most comfortable I've found is a pair of socks rolled up and attached with a rubber band. I wanted something a little more presentable for a performance, so I ordered this. I wish it were black or gray, but I needed it quickly, and this was available. Others have pointed out that it is just a block of foam, but I it was worth the price to me not to have to try to shape it myself in the short time I had.

Needed foam rests for children's violins and this one was a good deal. The blue doesn't squish down as much as the grey foam shoulder rests do. So one of the blue foam rests will replace the grey type.More teachers are desiring this type of shoulder rest over the Kun type, they believe it gives more stability.My oldest child learned to play with the plastic Kun rest and that is still their preference even though the new teacher prefers the foam. My child has a long neck and the Kun brings the instrument higher up. For orchestra (2 hours of playing) the 4/4 Kun is used. During lessons the foam is required by the instructor.The beginner is learning on this foam rest and prefers it to the 3/4 Kun because it "feels better."You will need long rubber bands to secure to the instrument. Unfortunately this set-up makes the violin uglier than other rests that are more discrete. The price is much better than the molded plastic types and the comfort depends on the player.

This one was not dense enough for my adult needs. I've been trying and trying to find a shoulder rest that feels good, and stays on.

This was not as thick as it appears. material was not quality. I would not recommend this to anyone. You can find something else, or make it yourself.

if you need something easy, quick and cheap, this is your best bet. its just more convenient to have it already shaped.

It’s a bit on the short side, but otherwise good for a beginner who is joy quite ready for a shoulder rest.

bought this product to have in my classroom incase a student forgot their shoulder rest for lessons, and it is an excellent product!
