Well-built, reliable external SSD with excellent everyday performance
Well-built, reliable external SSD with excellent everyday performance. I can’t reach the maximum advertised speeds because my computer doesn’t support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, but even on standard USB ports it’s significantly faster than some external SSDs and far quicker than HDDs - I was amazed at how quickly I could move 300gb across 3 files, taking mere minutes compared to hours with HDDs. The fact that they have some drop protection and some water resistance is also very reassuring. The drive is compact, lightweight, and feels very durable, making it easy to travel with. Setup was instant (plug-and-play) on both Windows and Mac, and the 4TB capacity is ideal for large backups, media libraries, or work files. If you have compatible hardware, you’ll likely see even better performance, but it still works extremely well on older systems. A high-quality, no-nonsense SSD that does exactly what it’s designed to do. Make your purchase now while the prices are still reasonable as they are likely to double and maybe even triple over the course of the next year (like graphic cards did (due to demand and lack of supply and people mining bitcoin, lockdown gaming etc) due to the demand for ai centres and businesses making RAM prices go crazy high, and now storage prices are beginning to follow suit. Micron (owners of the Crucial brand) have announced that they are exiting the Crucial consumer market and will be focusing on supplying larger businesses, enterprise and commercial customers (again, the ai demand), and this will only mean that prices will increase - without Crucial (being one of the most popular and trusted brands for storage and memory iwht arguably the best value for money pricing) there will be less competition and less availability only driving prices higher. Don't let their exit put you off as they will continue to sell their products at retailers until February 2026 and will continue to honour warranties for their relevant periods. All in all I am very happy with my purchase of these amazing SSDs, so much so that I have just purchased my third one.

Blazing Fast, Rock Solid, and Reliable – Perfect for Creative Work and Backup
I’ve been using the Crucial X10 Pro 2TB for a few weeks now and I’m seriously impressed. The advertised speeds (up to 2100MB/s read and 2000MB/s write) aren’t just marketing fluff—this drive flies. Large video files, RAW photo backups, and even full macOS Time Machine backups copy across in minutes, not hours. I’m using it with both a Mac Mini (M1) and a Windows laptop, and the USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 interface has worked flawlessly with both. It comes pre-formatted in exFAT, which is handy for cross-platform use, but I reformatted it for APFS on my Mac without any issues. Build quality is excellent. It’s compact, sturdy, and has a soft-touch rubberised finish that feels nice in the hand. I’ve taken it out on shoots and it’s held up well in bags, in pockets, and even in light rain—IP55 water and dust resistance gives real peace of mind. Pros: Extremely fast read/write speeds (real-world tests were close to spec) Compact and durable design Works on both Mac and PC Feels premium and rugged Stays cool even with heavy file transfers Cons: USB-C cable is a little short (as usual!) Pricier than basic SSDs, but you’re paying for top-tier performance If you’re a photographer, videographer, or just want a fast, trustworthy backup drive, the Crucial X10 Pro is a solid investment. Highly recommended.

Failed after 6 months - don't buy!
UPDATE: I contacted Crucial support and although the product is still under warranty, they don't offer refund because I bought it on Amazon from the Crucial Shop - this doesn't make any sense. When I go to my orders on Amazon, it links to Crucial Support, so it is the same company. I don't want to reformat or get a new product, as I've read many people were sent a replacement and that one failed too. I loved the small form, trully portable and very fast. However, just 6 months of very light use and the drive got corrupted. Fortunately, I was able to open it and retrieve the files and copy to another drive I had with me. Had I not had the other drive with me, I'd be in trouble.

Great for 4K video storage.
Just what I needed to download video files to whilst on my EU tour of the sunny bits. From micro SD to this 2Tb SSD fast & furious. Worth paying extra for the quicker read/write speed. Because they are expensive, I gave it 4*'s; other than that, it is great. And so bloody small, just hope I don't lose it.

Great for the traveller.
I am a very keen, but not very good, amateur photographer and needed a way of down loading RAW digital photo's from my camera while out and about. Photographic equipment can be very big a bulky so, my first priority was, I needed an External SSD that was small and light. During my search I came across the Crucial X10 Pro and it has proved to be a great addition and help in my quest to create that great photo! It's light weight, robust, Read/Write speeds are phenomenal and small enough to fit in your top pocket. Great piece of kit.

I don't know why but the gold color was quite a bit less than the other colors. I'll take that! The drive is plug and play. I set it up with my backup software and I'm doing a weekly full is a few minutes and daily differentials in seconds. Compared to my old mech drive, a full backup took over an hour. I'm using the drive with an SP9 which I don't think uses the full drive speed so it's a bit future proof. The storage capacity means I can keep 3 or 4 weeks of full/differential backups on a drive. That's calculated, so far only 2 weeks but plenty of space left. I'm powering it directly from the USB-C port of the SP9. It's detected quickly. Not sure if it's necessary but I use the eject function in the system tray before disconnecting it. It fits perfectly into the side pocket of my neoprene SP9 envelope with room to spare.
