This is perfect! I only order one hinge for my daughter’s toy chest and it works wonderfully. It holds the lid up and you have to pull down to get it to start closing. Once it goes, it goes down very slowly and shuts softly. Plus it’s super easy to install as long as you have a drill!

Originally thought that they sent me 2 right hand hinges. I didn't realize they can be flipped. Very easy installation and mostly clear instructions. Highly recommend.

The instructions were great, even came with a template for the hinge bracket. Once they were installed they worked perfectly. By following their recommendations of two hinges it was exactly what was needed.

Had a similar pair of hinges that I bought previously on Amazon for kids toy box. One side broke. This was virtually identical to the original. Nice that these are reversible for left or right as my original ones were handed.

I am mostly very impressed. The hinges are high quality and the installation instructions were clear and easy. My only complaint is the hinges close way too slowly. I wish there was an adjustment to make them close a little faster.

Normally I would not add additional comment to a review on an item I wish I could give zero stars, but in this case, and considering the above the "I expected it to be junk" price, I will deviate. First, the instructions were perfectly clear, but wrong. See the position of the "hinge" (it's not a hinge, its a safety closure to accompany the actual hinges) in Step 4 using the included template in the attached pic. Now note the installed position in Step 9, at least an inch lower than in Step 4 and rotated besides. Step 9 is how it should have been located. Located as per Step 4 the lid would not close fully, hitting the hinge arm and staying open 3/4"/18mm at the hinge point. Second, after drilling six new holes in a custom crafted maple toy chest to lower the hinge, the slow close function was nonexistent. The 32" wide, eight pound/4kg lid would slam shut as if these useless devices were not installed. Buying struts instead. I suggest you do that as well.

I was encouraged by the numerous 5-star reviews and the template & video included for mounting, so I purchased these to complete my child's toy chest. HEADS UP: Make sure you have enough clearance before you start drilling holes. Like two other reviews noted, the upper bracket rests on the white soft-close piece, so the lid does not shut completely. I'm actually surprised more people have not encountered this issue! I had to remove all of the screws and mount the supports about 1/2 inch lower than the template suggests. Ugly drill holes need to be filled! Keep in mind I used a digital angle finder to ensure the lid was exactly 105° per instructions, and I am an experienced woodworker, so you can imagine my frustration when I finished installing the supports and the chest lid wouldn't close completely. As another reviewer pointed out, notice in Step 7 of the instructions the mount is higher than it is in Step 9. It is lower in Step 9 and I wish I had seen that review before wasting 30 minutes. Once I remedied the issue, the soft close supports work well. 3 stars for a shoddy template and a functional item.

Unlike a couple of other products I tried, this one actually worked, maintaining a soft close all the way to the point of contact. Absolutely crucial to its use on a toy box. Another satisified customer has posted a video of their end result which is pretty much what I have too. I followed the instructions carefully and used the fixing template supplied without any problem. Some have criticised the instructions supplied but the only moment of confusion I had was thinking the two hinges supplied were identical - they are in fact reversible you just need to pull the hinge from the mounting and turn it round. If you are building a box from scratch I would recommend that you take note of the hinge mounting needing about 90mm of flat surface down from the top edge and the arm mounting point being about 170mm from the hinge point.

Highly recommend for anything you want a soft/slow close hinge. I had another 'soft close' hinge that didn't work out of the box regardless of how I installed them. These worked fanatically! Came with some simple but easy to follow instructions. Templates to make sure you screw the parts in the right spot. Highly recommended! Used on my ottoman lid that my kids use to store their hats and mitts, and no longer have to worry about pinched fingers. Very slow close, almost to the point were you really have to start closing the lid and not just letting it go after you open it.

Perfect. Easy to install and definitely soft close

These work good on small toy chests and easily adjusted for more or less force required to close the lid. They don’t really have a soft close feature and are more suited to ensure the lid is held open to prevent it from closing unexpectedly.

Only been on a couple of days but working exactly as promised. Exactly what I needed for a large wooden storage box. Much safer now.
