2008 Debut Solo CD Album- 'Sea-Sew' by Lisa Hannigan
This is the debut solo album from talented Irish singer song-writer Lisa Hannigan. She is a huge star in her native Ireland but less well known in the UK , this wonderful album of ten tracks is breathless in its intensity and lyrical beauty. Hannigan is a old fashioned style artist who just lets the music do the talking and with a voice like hers that's quite sufficient. The tracks cover many different themes and are all harmonically entrancing and extremely enticing. They draw you in with a distinctive Celtic flair, that wants you to hear them time and time again. Lisa Hannigan is definitely an artist that the more you play her the more you fall in love with her. But by the end of this magical Sea-Sew adventure I just could not get Lisa's beautiful music out of my head, need I say more about this fabulous and very under-rated singer. Her songs just float as if on air and transport you to that timeless place of eternal beauty they are just so effortless and awe inspiring. This debut album instantly made me go and buy the another two albums Lisa has released immediately and I am sure you will fall in love with Lisa Hannigan's music just like I have!

Sea sew stitches together nicely.
As with many others I first heard of Lisa Hannigan on Damien Rice albums where her voice really came out and just grabbed you, well it did me anyhow. So when I saw this I had to get a copy along with her follow up album Passengers. There are some nice songs on here but it, I find, lacks that something I felt from the Damien Rice collaborations, but that's my fault for expecting the same when this is Hannigans' own work so different it should be.It's a good album though and gets better with each listen, as do many albums.

Sea Sew - (Un)Surprisingly Beautiful
I won't go through the whole album, analysing it track by track because, 1) I probably won't do it justice, and, 2) I'll likely be going over old ground, covered by other reviewers. What I will do, is simply say that this is one of my all-time favourite albums and never fails to fill me with a multitude of emotions, no matter how many times I listen.Lisa Hannigan has written an album which possesses great depth and beauty, and her lyrics and vocals float through the soundscape like a warm summer's breeze. A real rarity for me, finding an album that is as captivating and fresh on the hundredth listen, as it was on the first.I absolutely adore every track (no surprises there) and there really are no weak-points or 'filler', to speak of. If I had to name a favourite track, I'd go for 'Teeth' - but that's splitting very fine hairs indeed!Give this album a try - please! I highly doubt you will regret it :)

Sea Sew
I am a huge fan of Lisa Hannigan, I love her voice and her range. I'm so gld she is releasing solo material, there are son many good songs on this album for example Ocean and a Rock, Lillie, Sea Song, Venn Diagram, I Don't Know, Keep it All. I love how inventive the lyrics are and there is the imagery of the sea and ocean that runs through many of the tricks and links them all together very well. The sound of the album is very folk-like which is what I expected, but it does not sound samey or boring. Sea Song brings a slightly different sound as it is almost a Latin feel, Keep it All is also a bit darker. Ocen and a Rock, Lillie and Venn Diagram are more relaxing with beautiful melodies and guitar. I Don't Know is done very well, it builds up very well with percussion to start and then has horns and an infectious chorus. This album is well worth a try!

A wonderful album!
I think various reviews have found Lisa's solo albums more saccharine and less edgy than her previous work but there is undoubtedly an alluring strangeness about her lyrics here. This album grows on me more and more, and if she were to tour anywhere near I would be there in a flash. A wonderful album!

great album!
This album is soulfull and quirky....in its own particular way quite unique. I first listened to this album online and the videos for the songs are extreamly creative, especially 'lille' was one of my favourites. The songs are very uplifting and i would say easy listening. If you happen to enjoy this album i would also reccomend listening to Laura Marling.
